Stumbled upon this zi char restaurant at kembangan area and gave it a shot since it serves taiwanese sweet potato porridge alongside zi char dishes! the steamed chicken was juicy and the stir taiwan fried pea shoots were also delicious and quite a rare find! chai poh omelette and the minced meat dish paired perfectly with the porridge too! will come back again to try their other items again!
Nice food at Seng House. Good vibes and atmosphere for dinner. The food also did not disappoint. I loved the hainanese pork chop, which was so soft and crispy. The chicken claypot rice is also hits the spot with the chili. Highly recommend for everyone to hit up this spot.
This was a place that brings feelings of comfort home cooked meal ! Really enjoyed the kampong chicken, silky skin and tender meat; getting rare to see ginger paste with chilli ☺️
The fresh cockles were also nice, fresh & briny and addictive. Alll in all, an enjoyable meal you can have with family & friends.
Atmosphere was very cosy tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood and what was presented and tasted was very authentic Hainanese western cuisine. Overall, I felt very welcomed and was well attended during the service as well!
I haven't been to Gu Zao Ren in 9 years, and returning felt like a warm hug. The food is just as authentic and comforting as I remembered! The simple sweet potato porridge pairs perfectly with all their savoury side dishes. The braised pork belly with preserved mustard greens still melts in your mouth, and the stir-fried pork liver is perfectly glazed. I also loved the hotplate egg tofu and the intensely flavourful dark soy-marinated cockles. Highly recommend this spot for a nostalgic, satisfying meal!
Went to Gu Zao Ren Seafood Taiwan Porridge for a late dinner last month and enjoyed our meal! My favourite was definitely Fried Cereal Sotong and Fried Beancurd in Claypot. Opening hours are from 11am-2am, making this a great option for supper.
Went with a friend and we ordered the Hainanese Pork Chop and Wat Dan Hor, as well as an apple crisp kombucha for myself and peach cooler for my friend. Service staff is very friendly and chill, my kombucha was great and you can tell they know what they are doing. Seng House is bringing Hainanese classic warmth into a modern Western style.
Wat Dan Hor has good thick gravy and servings of seafood. Would like to have more even more sides, sauces or depth on the hainanese pork chop, but appreciated the presentation nonetheless, and pork chop + fries being crispy/fresh.
Also managed to get quite a bit of work done before dinner, I would say a productive place in the East to get some work settled and then relax into the evening.
Would like to try the Oxtail stew and squid tentacles next time. Prob another kombucha? We'll see ~
Went with my friend last night, we shared the Hainanese Pork Chop and Wat Dan Hor. She also drank a kombucha and I had the peach cooler. Food came out pretty quickly and service was friendly. I loved how crispy the chips and fried goods were, you could tell it was freshly fried. Would’ve loved a bit more sauce personally for the pork chop dish but flavours were really nice. The seafood in the rice noodles were really fresh and the gravy was good, slightly-thick consistency (the way gravy should be!). We sat outdoors and found it a little loud, so maybe indoors is the go.
A perfect place to have dinner or supper in a zhichar setting! The porridge here is great and goes well with the saltier/savoury side dishes they offer
Had a very yummy supper at this spot! Seriously very impressed by the spacious restaurant and there is parking available for diners. Their menu is extensive and has all my favourite tze char dishes. The meat are cooked well, the kailan beef is super tender, cereal sotong has the perfect bite, ginger onion fish is very soft too! Will definitely come back again!
Prata at Zi Zai Vegetarian in Tampines 🫓 I got myself a Ham Prata and plain prata here.
Why Ham prata? Quite a unique prata I guess 🤔 Its pretty cool, with diced ham in the prata, and when I started slicing and eating it, everything starts falling apart 🤣 Love it and especially when the prata is dipped into the curry or vice versa 😉 Fabulous taste 😋
Not much pure vegetarian prata out there in SG, absolutely love eating prata here, no doubt 🫶 this is a pure vegetarian restaurant. Vegan and eggless options are available.
Conveniently located near Tampines West MRT Station. Zi Zai vegetarian has outlets spread across SG, catering to you, wherever you are in SG 🎊
Highly recommended for its local cuisine as well as their prata 🤓 Love it 😻
Had the sliced fished, hotplate tofu and stir fried beef with kai lan. Beef was flavourful and could taste the wok hey. Fish was qq and really fresh. The tofu was well balanced. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Overall it was an enjoyable supper zi char!
