[KOVAN, SINGAPORE] Why did it take me so long to try this place??? Recently me and my friends decided to try out some peranakan food and the food here slaps hard 😍

There is one dish you MUST order, and that is their Honey Pork 🍯 ($12.80 for small). This dish was the ultimate flavour bomb. Sweet and savoury, the pork slices were very well executed due to its tender meat and the amount of sauce that is coated around it. It was incredibly smoky as well, without being bitter at all. Such an additive dish I can eat with rice alone!

The Bakwan Kepeting 🍗 ($12.80 for small) will be my next recommendation. Yes the soup might look plain, but it had a good comforting flavour that will make you go for seconds! This soup came with 5 HUGE meatballs that were tender, flavourful and of course, meaty.

Ayam Buah Keluak 🍫 ($15.80 for small) is another rice stealer, with a very thick, flavourful sauce that is just slightly spicy and sour. The earthy flavour comes deep from the buak keluak, and it's actually my first time trying this! Little did I know that it tastes like chocolate by itself??? However, I do have a gripe though... The chicken wasn't marinated long enough for the flavour to penetrate all the way in.

The Nyonya Chap Chye ($16.20 for large) was decent, nothing to shout out about. Do get their Nasi Kuning 🍚 ($1.40) to accompany all the dishes for that extra coconut kick!

With their comforting dishes and warm service, I'm definitely coming back for more 😍

Every time McGriddles comes back, it’s like a mini celebration. I always look forward to that sweet maple griddle cake and this stack version is pure breakfast chaos — two maple griddle cake, two crispy chicken bacon, egg, melty cheese and two chicken sausage patty all in one messy, glorious bite. Not something I’d eat daily but when McGriddles returns, it’s game on!

The Spanish Iberico pork is beautifully tender. Chinese sausage lends a fragrant sweetness, while a hint of salted fish delivers a bold, savoury contrast that elevates the dish’s complexity.

Cooked in a traditional claypot, the rice develops irresistible crispy bits at the bottom, adding a delightful crunch to each spoonful. Fresh greens on top offer a light, refreshing balance.

Feeling extra hungry? You can top up with more rice for just $1. This dish comfortably fed the three of us. A hearty, well-balanced and wholly satisfying meal 》$17.90 + $1 Rice

Ultra-crispy tau pok that shatters with every bite, holding a juicy, flavourful minced pork filling. The contrast between the airy crunch and tender pork makes for an unexpectedly delightful combination 》$7.90

Silky smooth tofu with a crisp, golden exterior, served in a generous portion alongside shiitake, enoki mushrooms and fresh vegetables. The contrast of textures — light crunch, delicate tofu and earthy mushrooms creates a well-balanced, satisfying bite 》$11.90

Crispy, buttery, and packed with flavour. Each bite delivers the perfect crunch with fragrant cereal clinging to succulent prawns. Lightly sweet, savoury and addictive 》$14.90

($6) managed to try it out their latest trend matcha strawberry ice cream but i felt that matcha was not strong enough, got milky and creamy aftertaste.

Not your ordinary prawn or seafood burger. Together with a prawn-squid patty are hard-boiled egg, fishcake, lettuce, shallot and prawn sauce. I wish the patty was more prominent, as it was drowned out by too many other ingredients.

Mos continues to raise its high bar. What kind of special is this haha. They decided to pair their seafood burger with a cup of prawn soup! It's as rich as it gets. Damn sinful to drink but so good.

[HOUGANG, SINGAPORE] Fish soup fans, this is for you. If you love a deep savoury umami soup, this is one bowl you need to try. Ah Shun Fish Soup's rendition of black and white fish soup ($7/10) is definitely not healthy at all 🤣 with a huge emphasis on flavour. The soup itself is heavy on its fish broth flavour and is further accentuated by the fried shallots. Their fried fish slices are placed separately, and there is a reason why. The batter was amazingly light & crunchy, with a deep dried fish flavour. I highly suspect they put some kind of dried fish powder in the batter as well. This makes it extremely addictive!

Yes, the bowl I have here is $10 and may seem expensive to many, but the quality of fresh fish slices really seems to justify the high cost. The texture was soft yet firm, and has a really good bite to it. You get about 6-7 slices of that sweet succulent fish for you to savour each bite!

With about a 40 min wait time during peak weekend hours, will I do it again? Maybe not anytime soon, but when I do, I know it's gonna be a good treat.

Surprisingly good. Not as good as what I consider the standard, but it's generous and benefits from having mlxg, which is why a lot of ingredients.

Given they're a strong brand, I'm surprised the sauce was a tad bland. But the fish was fresh and plump, and the egg was beautiful.
