Red Star Restaurant is a heritage restaurant in Chinatown that serves old school trolley dim sum. We had lunch there ($125 for 3 pax) and every item delivered. The siew mai was really good - the minced meat filling was mixed with chopped shiitake mushroom, which gave it a very nice fragrance. Apart from the typical dim sum items, we also ordered the Roast Suckling Pig that came with jelly fish on the side - it was quite pricey at $28 per plate but it was sooo good!

(~ $11) dumpling noodle was quite ok but the broth slightly salty tbh. siew mai v nice as usual.

Under each silky skin was a juicy pork filling that soaked up the sauce beautifully. The chilli oil leaned more aromatic than fiery, with savoury depth and a gentle tang that kept the flavours lively. The balance of smooth wrapper, tender meat and fragrant sauce made each bite satisfying. The portion felt generous and affordable, a dish that draws me back for both taste and value whenever Iโ€™m at this hawker ใ€‹$6

The XLB came steaming with thin and delicate skin that held the broth beautifully without breaking. The soup inside was rich and flavourful while the pork filling stayed tender and well marinated. The meatโ€‘toโ€‘skin ratio felt generous, giving each bite a satisfying balance of filling and broth. Affordable at a dollar each, they delivered both taste and craft without feeling heavy on the wallet ใ€‹$6

Average dim sum I would say, but for 100% for the old school push cart vibesโ€ฆ

The Signature Popping Juice Pan Fried Buns ็ˆ†ๆฑ็”Ÿ็…ŽๅŒ… ($6.30 / 4 pieces) is so good. The pan fried skin is thin and crisp, while the juicy pork filling is fragrant, tasty and full of soup. Love this!

The to-go dim sum supper place, providing decent dim sum at wee hours.

Suggest to skip the eggplant, not a fan of that.
Xlb also just so-so, the rest not bad eat.

The yam XLB is always a highlight for me after dining here. Each dumpling is delicate and generously filled with a smooth yam paste that carries a gentle sweetness. Itโ€™s the kind of treat that rounds off the meal perfectly. I also appreciate that itโ€™s vegetarian so my friends can enjoy it too ใ€‹$10.50 / 10 Pcs
