🍽️ First Impressions
Upon entering, I was immediately drawn to the dazzling array of food. From Hainanese Chicken Rice to Jumbo Prawns, from Curry Chicken to Satay Skewers, each dish exudes an enticing aroma.
🍛 Signature Dishes
• Hainanese Chicken Rice: A classic Singaporean flavor, with tender chicken and rich sauce.
• Jumbo Prawns: Fresh and springy, each bite is a gift from the sea.
• Curry Chicken: Fragrant and spicy with a hint of sweetness, leaving a lingering aftertaste.
• Satay Skewers: The meat is grilled just right and paired with special satay sauce, offering a unique flavor.
🍝 Pasta and Rice
• Spicy Seafood Pasta: A perfect blend of spiciness and seafood, captivating from the first bite.
• Creamy Shrimp Penne: The richness of cream combined with the freshness of shrimp creates a rich texture.
🐟 Seafood and Fish
• Entire Chilled Steamed Salmon: It doesn’t look very appetizing.
• Cold Seafood: Including abalone, shrimp, scallops, etc., the freshness is acceptable.
🍣 Sushi and Sashimi
Although the freshness is average, the variety is extensive, satisfying different tastes.
🍲 Indian Cuisine
Freshly made roti and curry sauces, fragrant and mouthwatering, one of the favorites of the day.
🥩 Grilled Meats
• Wagyu Rump: The meat is delicious, but not very memorable.
• Otak-Otak, Squid Rings, Chicken Wings: Grilled to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.
🍮 Desserts
• Chocolate Fountain: Although the taste is average, it provides a unique dessert experience.
• Durian Flavored Ice Cream: Rich and thick, with a strong cream flavor, highly recommended!
🍰 Dessert Highlights
It’s worth mentioning that although the variety of desserts at Atrium is not very large, each one is made with high-quality ingredients and tastes incredibly delicious, rivaling the desserts of a five-star hotel buffet. Whether it’s the exquisite appearance or the rich taste, they are all praiseworthy.
🙌 Special Thanks
Here, I would also like to express my gratitude to Weixuan, Sakinah, and Albin for their excellent service. Their professionalism and enthusiasm made the entire dining experience more enjoyable. Thank you for your attentive service, making this meal more memorable! 🌟
📝 Overall Review
Although the freshness of the ingredients and the price are not top-tier, the 50% discount makes this dining experience quite cost-effective. Some dishes, such as crabs, lack freshness, but overall, it’s worth trying.

Fourscore and two Fridays ago, I had the pleasure of previewing @shakeshacksg latest special at their groovy Disco Night. For many, the news that Shake Shack & @kengengkee had collaborated on The Shack’s newest special was a total surprise. For me it came as no surprise, as I do remember Keng Eng Kee running a short-lived burger concept at their main Alexandria outlet. ⠀

This collab special might be Shake Shack’s biggest special to date, as they introduce the White Pepper Beef Burger ($15.70 nett for a double), the Coffee Glazed Chicken Burger ($11.80 nett), Coffee Glazed Chicken Bites ($9.10 nett). The White Pepper Beef takes two of The Shack’s fabled smashed patties, tucks them in with a blanket of Monterey Jack cheese, tops them with caramelised onions & fresh scallions, before everything gets saucily sauced up with the special Sarawak white pepper sauce. ⠀

It sounds utterly weird coming from me, but I think the chicken has the beef beat here. I don’t mean to glaze, but The Coffee Glazed Chicken Burger was a divine revelation. Even though the burger I had was a chicken breast, the inherent dryness of it was completely ameliorated by the sweet & savoury coffee glaze and the moist & tangy coleslaw. The batter on the chicken was also amazing, as it stayed creditably crispy even with the sticky coffee glaze on it. The Chicken Bites were more of the same, albeit without the carbs & the ‘slaw.⠀

If this review has piqued your interest, you have until 31 December to get these brilliant burgers into your belly. Go on then son, get some.⠀

The white pepper sauce is a stroke of genius, as the creaminess of the aioli base keeps the burger moist & saucy, while the heat of the white pepper restrains the burger from feeling too greasy. However, the sauce isn’t too peppery and it won’t trigger any intractable coughing fits, which is perfectly fine by me.⠀

Our experience here was perfect - delicious food set against a classy ambience and warm lights. But that's not to say that the prices are high - the dishes here are really worth the quality plus the HH oysters and drinks are so so affordable! We had 6 oysters at only $14 and they were so delicious. The server will even take the time to explain their origins and flavour profiles if you wish. The Yuzu Caipiroska (HH $15) packed a double punch of booziness and sourness, but in a good way!

On to the food, we started with the Crab Croquettes ($15 for 3 pcs). Exterior was well-crisp without any heavy greasiness, and the insides were warm and oozing with potatoes and flakes of crab meat. My partner had a funny comment though, that if she ate this without knowing, she would have thought that the filling was the Ayam brand salmon mayo spread. I...agreed.

Next, we had the Hispi cabbage ($17) which unfortunately was the letdown of the meal. We really wanted to like this, but the flavours of the baby anchovy and asiago cheese didn't really gel well with the cabbage. The cabbage sweetness should be more pronounced but unfortunately I could not appreciate much of it.

However, the star of the show was hands-down the Crab Zucchini Pasta ($28). So buttery, rich, and flavourful, the pasta with the sauce alone was already so damn delicious. Completing the dish were the generous chunks of sweet crab meat as well as slices of zucchini adding a touch of freshness. We loved this.

Food, service, and vibes were all amazing. I will definitely be back.

This roasted meat stall is located at this coffee shop under Blk 132 Jalan Bukit Merah, which is very easily missed considering there’s so many food options around this neighbourhood.

There’s want much people here and I would say it is almost empty even on weekend lunch time. Only the regulars usually come here to grab their meal.

I been here many years ago for the old school char kway teow and found out about this stall that time. So I decided to grab my meal from this stall after recalling my plan and was around this area.

The portion is surprisingly generous for the price I paid here, and I even added the braised egg and braised beancurd; which total only cost me $5. Which is consider rare for now.

Their char siew and roasted meat was prepared well and tasty. Soup is available complimentary and you just need to help yourself with a bowl of it at the front of the stall.

I personally don't support this outlet of the brand, but this was a treat so I won't grumble lol.

First time seeing wagyu served with rosti and ikura.
Lovely combination and great satisfaction on stressful days!

Got quite excited when we had first come across the news of the Shake Shack x Keng Eng Kee Seafood collaboration some time back last month — whilst it is exciting to see the folks behind Shake Shack introduce a limited time-only offering that makes use of local elements in their burger offerings, the collaboration does also somewhat rewinds things for us to a time in the past where Keng Eng Kee Seafood had first explored serving up burgers with an infusion of local zichar elements via another concept named Wok In Burger; the concept having operated within the now-defunct JCube before being subsequently based at the Keng Eng Kee Seafood location at Bukit Merah before its demise. Available from 17 October 2024 to 31 December 2024, the limited time-only menu features four (4) items from two (2) themes; “Coffee-Glazed” and “White Pepper” — think a little bit of a Yin and Yang thing perhaps, with a burger and a side being served from each of the two themes.

Being fans of Keng Eng Kee Seafood’s Coffee Pork Ribs, we made our visit to the Shake Shack outlet at Neil Road to give the Coffee-Glazed Chicken Burger a go — we found ourselves staying for the White Pepper Fries however. The “White Pepper” menu is said to be inspired by the white pepper crab that one can find and some zichar establishments; the White Pepper Fries coming with the standard fries that one would expect to be served with at Shake Shack, though drizzled with the white pepper aioli over the top. Whilst the white pepper aioli does look rather typical with a rather creamy appearance given its white aesthetic, the White Pepper Fries does come with quite a piquant hint of spiciness that only starts at the back of the tongue when one tastes the aioli; nothing quite like its creamy appearance. The hint of pepper that it gives can be described to be rather similar to that of local Singaporean-style pepper-based Bak Kut Teh; one that provides a real kick that we found to be really addictive though also on the “heaty” side.

The Coffee-Glazed Chicken Burger wasn’t too bad, though the main concern here would likely be the thin layer of sauce that coats the fried chicken patty — we wish the sauce could be thicker and gooey-er like how it would be for the Coffee Pork Ribs from Keng Eng Kee Seafood that would deliver quite a punchier note overall. Not quite sure how the Coffee-Glazed Chicken Bites will fare against the Coffee-Glazed Chicken Burger, though the White Pepper Fries does make thing promising enough for us to want to give the White Pepper (Beef) Burgee a go!
