When u want various flavours of crayfish , this is the place to go , they use an Australian variety of crayfish which they farm in Indonesia n deliver fresh . They also offer FOC peeling service for those who don’t wanna get their hands dirty . The peppers and pig blood dish was nice too .
The ID did a fantastic job , very pretty location . For groups u can have a lovely square table layout with bbq in the middle or facing the chef . But the service was poor , table was not cleaned properly before we sat down , lacks finasse & training. Food was nothing to complain about but also nothing to rave about .
Their pork wanton & dumplings can be tabao n put in the freezer , taken out anytime to dump into Toru soup w vegetables .
The decor & high ceiling with the stage brings u back to old Shanghai n old school family reunion dinners . U get the feeling the service staff have worked here their whole lives n e patrons are long time regulars , it feels very warm n homely . The service staff are excellent , it’s from working a long time n knowing what e customer wants even before they open their mouth . Most importantly , every dish is good , has standard . This lamb dish self wrapped in crepe skin is one of my fav .
We enjoyed the Horfun w Scallops and Carrot Cake w Prawn , it is very well executed with the abundant wok hei & crispiness . But the price vs portion somehow doesn’t make it worthwhile . $38 for a Hor Fun u truly expect a bigger portion even if scallops were used .
The red wine chicken had a really tasty warming broth which I lapped up . but the thunder tea rice was a bit dissapointing , although the 25 grain rice was something different , it lacked the usual green vegetables I see at other thunder tea rice places , it felt more like a rainbow rice bowl with the yellow capsicum etc . The chilli was excellent though .
The juicy tender smoky grilled chicken was to die for , paired with their water spinach which was wok hei out so amazingly the smoky flavour was savoured in every crunchy bite . The Tom Yam soup with prawns was a huge ass portion and so yummy .
We tried the Shanghai seasonal greens ( super fresh & crunchy ), the sesame chicken , the croaker fish w yellow chili was really good , and the braised lamb w ginger . Everything was delicious , suitable for those who prefer light clean palette as the seasoning is not as heavy as Hunan or Szechuan cuisine .
E salads we ordered was fantastic ! Fresh tangy bursting with flavour !
Great place for wood fire grill foods
We love the service , it was like going to someone’s home the way the service staff took care of us with such humour n care . Thank you . The kimchi is very good , we tabaoed 2 packets . Meats are decent for the price .
It’s an outdoor eating experience with the usual Zhi Char seafood selection . Very busy on the weekends and service was a bit slow as they were very busy .
They have e Pipa duck infused w black pepper which is unique . We enjoyed the luffah broth w Woodear n tofu ball . The crab meat Bee Hoon is also good ! Great view on the 55th floor of MBS
