Rich, creamy, chocolatey, and most importantly, divine.
Crab Tostadas ($18/ 2pcs):
On two crispy corn tortillas, the fresh blue swimmer crab, jalapeΓ±o, cilantro and mayo combo really turned up the heat. The staff did warn us about the mint and lime mayo being spicy, so indeed it was. Love the plump chunks of crab, which tasted fresh and sweet; I think the flavourful yet refreshingly bright minty sauce helped counter any possible unpleasant briny flavour.
Beef Quesadillas ($19)
Yummy but strangely resembles a well-seasoned murtabak?! The spiced, flavourful pulled beef brisket was super tender and very complementary to the melted mixed cheese, chipotle, savoury salsa ranchero, and pickled onion filling. The flour tortillas were crisp and nicely toasted, too.
Baja Fish Tacos ($12/ pcs):
On a soft gluten-free corn tortilla, the crispy fried barramundi came with slaw and chili mango salsa. We opted for the sauce to be on the side as the staff explained that it would be quite spicy, which it was. The tangy, tantalising sauce was best added bit by bit for me. Love the flaky, fresh, succulent fish and the thin, crunchy, golden-brown batter but $12 for one was an ouch.
Place was vibey nice for small drinks and talks. Nice ambience, with comfortable lighting. Menu is interesting with special and unique dishes not found elsewhere. Love the grilled pork collar and pork belly the most, was impressed by the first bite with the charred taste and aroma of the meat. Minced pork katsu and pork jowl were nice too. Like combination of the pork jowl with the runny egg. Staff were friendly and provided recommendations, they were also prompt to respond to requests. Overall a satisfactory experience.
Met my friend for dinner at Shukuu Izakaya for some skewers after work, and it was a fun experience! It was our first time visiting an Izakaya and we were spoilt for choices. We ordered a few of the skewers - the beef wagyu was really tender and nice, while the pork belly and pork collar were soooo flavourful. We were both pleasantly surprised by how good the pork was. The minced pork katsu was yummy too, served piping hot and packed with meat.
Vibes of the place was nice and chill, making it a good place to hang and unwind after a dayβs work with a glass of beer paired with skewers. If thatβs what youβre looking for then Shukuu Izakaya is a place for you :)
The mentaiko scallops were amazing! Enjoyed the kani gratin and tori karaage as well.
They're having a promo for their 10th anniversary, with select dishes and drinks going for just $10 - yes just $10, which is almost half-priced for some items!
Place was moody and vibey, great for a post-work gathering or even an evening date. We started off with the Tokyo Hummus ($12), which was made with edamame giving it a unique flavour different from the traditional chickpea. Topped with a layer of furikake and served with mini toasted bread slices, this was a great appetiser to start off the meal. Next were two $10 items we chose - the Unagi & Foie Gras Donabe and the Pork Aparagus Kushiyaki (2pcs). $10 for unagi and foie gras is really such a steal, an the dish did not disappoint at all. Delicious, with the sweet-savoury teriyaki-esque sauce, my only complaint would be that they could hold back a little with the sauce. On the other hand, the kushiyaki was just alright, and the pork tasted like salty bacon to me.
However, I was pretty disappointed by the charge of $3 per pax for water, especially since it was not made known to use at the time of ordering. The waitress asked if we wanted still or sparkling water, and we replied that we just wanted tap water to which she just said "ok" and did not inform upfront of the charge. I did not know until I saw the bill! And when I mentioned this to the staff, he just said something to the tune of "yes it's like that". No apologies, no clarifications, quite disappointing and ended off the meal on a poor note.
Crunchy Potato ($17.90): Visually impressive, great portion, and first bite was full of flavour and crunch. However, you start to realise the outer part is the nicest, towards the middle the potato became more clumpy and one-dimensional.
Korean Tofu Stew ($16.90): Flavourful and chockful of tofu, veges, and beef slices. Perfect with rice (+$3).
Honeycomb Makgeoli ($13): Less honeycomb and more just-honey, but still very enjoyable.
Banchan: Trio of seaweed, braised quail eggs, and kimchi. Quail eggs were so so good. But they seemed to only refill once; the staff proactively helped us to refill the first time but seemd to ignore the empty banchan tray after that.
With Burpple, the stew was free which made this a really value-for-money place in the heart of Clarke Quay. Will return again to try the other dishes!
This is a lovely lunch or dinner spot in Sentosa , serving quality Wagyu selections . We loved the chefβs sashimi , tuna tartare with fried nori seaweed , n wagyu fat fried edamame . Lovely .
rly gotta give it to them for their pizzas - rly fluffy & soft crust that doesn't feel like a chore to chew or cut, and will have u unable to stop eating the calories. had the surf's pizza which had smoked salmon & dill & wowww the combi was js chef's kiss !!!! unfortunately the vodka sausage pasta was abit of a miss for me :-( not sure why but the texture was mildly crunch?y? but the flavour was ok! meat was pretty generous too~
