Word has seemingly gotten around about a new western food stall that is situated within the coffeeshop located at the foot of Blk 603 Clementi West Street 1; these folks might be pretty much the most nondescript western cuisine stall situated within a coffeeshop but they have since garnered quite a fair bit of attention on social media in recent times. The Reverie might have just recently opened their doors, but there has been quite a bit of talk about how they are serving up fine dining-worthy western cuisine at a neighbourhoodly setting with wallet-friendly prices. The menu at The Reverie is split across sections that are dedicated to Soups, Starters and Sides, Mains (Pasta) and Mains (Non-Pasta) โ some examples of how fine dining techniques are incorporated into the dishes that they serve up includes the use of Espuma for some of its dishes.
We were actually spoilt for choice whilst skimming through the menu at The Reverie โ after much contemplation, we found ourselves opting for the White Beef Bolognese Malfada that is being listed as a dish in the Mains (Pasta) section of the menu; this is being described to feature elements such as beef, pork, cream and chili oil. One should note that The Reverie does serve up most of their dishes ala minute, and therefore some waiting time would be required for the orders to be prepared. As the namesake of the dish suggests, the White Beef Bolognese Malfada does come in the form of what one would usually expect out of the bolognese; this also meant that elements such as the beef and pork does come in the form of minced meat. With the White Beef Bolognese Malfada being a white pasta, this also meant that the pasta is tossed with cream sauce โ the choice of pasta used for the dish will also be the Malfada (otherwise known as the Malfadine). We liked how the pasta wasnโt overly creamy here; the Malfadine being able to trap both the cream sauce and the bits of meat that gives it ample flavour โ the latter adding a slightly meaty and gamey note that isnโt too intimidating. The Malfadine does come with an al-dente consistency, while the use of some herbs does help to add an extra dimension of flavours to the pasta as well. Quite a well-executed plate of pasta, though one that definitely requires a fair bit of patience considering how things are done here and the queue that have started to form here.
Established in June 1983, this stall caters primarily to hungry university students and port workers, the result of which means large and generous portions at affordable wallet-friendly prices, coupled with long operating hours through most of the day and night. The place isn't a culinary bastion, but it is a place for fast, cheap, and good eats.
.
The sticky and moist white rice carries a mild fragrance of coconut cream, a touch of grainy earthy floral sweet flavour. The achar / Peranakan pickled salad is crunchy and juicy with bright vegetal sour sweet spice flavour, the deep-fried ikan bilis / anchovies is crisp and crunchy with fishy savoury salty flavour, and the fried chicken egg with runny yolk is wobbly and soft with eggy sweet savoury flavour.
.
The sotong / squid balls are springy bouncy with savoury sweet flavour, the battered crab stick surimi is tender and crisp with mild sweet savoury briny salty flavour, and the battered chicken wing is tender though not as crisp as I'd hoped yet carrying meaty sweet savoury flavour. Their grainy sambal tumis / stir-fried chili paste is mild with sweet savoury salty spice flavour.

A heart full of gratitude and a table full of good food on the last day of 2025. ๐คโจ
Reunited with my former colleagues over lunch after 9 long months and stepping back into the school felt so familiar โ for just a moment, it was like I never really left.
We shared a spread of seafood dishes ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐๐. They kept stuffing me with lots of food (not complaining ๐), especially after finding out I usually skip lunch at work. Everything was fresh, hearty and scrumptious.
So thankful for this rare moment, wonderful company, meaningful catch-ups and all the good vibes. Food really does taste better with people who matter. ๐

Got to learn about the existence of a fairly new Western food stall that is located at the foot of Blk 501 West Coast Drive within the coffeeshop named One Family Food Centre when scrolling through social media โ the stall being Admiralโs Western Kitchen, which is also one of the very few stalls that opens till past evening in the coffeeshop. Just like most western food stalls situated within coffeeshops, Admiralโs Western Kitchen serves up a menu which includes Main Dishes featuring a number of meat options to be paired with two (2) side dishes of the patronโs choice, while they also do offer a number of Spaghetti options and Finger Food items as well.
For our order of the Marineโs Fish & Chips, the sides that we opted for would be the Potato Gratin and Coleslaw โ the former of which was almost the entire reason that brought us to Admiralโs Western Kitchen anyway. The Marineโs Fish & Chips does come in the form where the batter is almost similar to that of beer-battered fish and chips that are served by places that replicates the British-style Fish & Chips โ this results in a fish fillet with a smooth, deep-fried golden brown batter that is especially thin and crisp; quite a bit of difference against some where we felt that the batter is a little too stiff and thick whilst trying to achieve the same British-style Fish & Chips effect. The fish inside is soft, flaky, moist and flesh โ quite delightful without any undesirable muddy or fishy notes, though the accompanying tartar sauce was a little mayonnaise-heavy and lacked the zing and zippiness of dill and capers that could cut through the flavours of the fish. Available in limited portions daily, the Potato Gratin features layers of sliced potatoes stacked atop one another with cream, herbs and a layer of cheese melted atop to bring all of the elements together; we liked how one could feel the bite of potatoes amidst the distinct layers, with the cream helping to amplify the notes of rosemary โ the only qualm being the baked cheese layer over the top being a little crusty and dry since the potato gratin was prepared way ahead of our visit to the establishment in the evening. Still a little bit of a rare find and quite a good eat around this quaint neighbourhood in West Coast overall!
