My favourite dessert from Hvala is their Goma Slice Cake ($9.90), which features an airy goma sponge cake layered with goma light cream. The cake is not overly sweet or heavy, and the black sesame aroma really comes through. A perfect afternoon tea treat!
📍Tom’s Palette
Alphonso Mango | Kochi Yuzu | Granny’s Favourite | Sicilian Pistachio
($5.80/ regular, $10.60/ large)
It has been a hot minute since I have had Tom's Palette. Still a favourite with their vast not-too-sweet ice cream selection and the localised flavour options. As good as I remembered them to be.
($7.30) w Pork Fillet ($3) their new latest collection for udon. Their udon was quite thin version and also pork fillet was quite hard.
their matcha was using electric froth, as their strawberry jam was quite nice tbh, taste quite milky and not much in taste.
($7.90) opt less spicy inside the soup broth and got strong taste.
($7.80) w 2 slices of tonkatsu so the ramen kinda normal but the shoyu is nt salty tbh at least fill ur stomach
Thin rice noodles stir-fried with egg, chicken and beansprouts for some crunch. Like most pad thai, the noodles were slightly sweet but the lime kept the flavours well balanced. Sweet, savoury and nutty all in one bite 》$6.80
Minced pork fried with plenty of chilli and basil, topped with a standard fried egg and rice. The basil pork was not too spicy and I love that runny egg yolk 》$8
($8.90) i choose koka noodle but I decided to try their all combo (prawn, clam and pork) at one go. but overall the bowl look quite small in serving size.
(Hot - $6) I saw barista use prepacked matcha latte to blend the matcha w fresh milk. It got foam texture as but it's quite weird vegetal aftertaste.
Wrapped up the meal with a few well-loved classics that always deliver. The grilled black cod teriyaki was sweet, smoky, and melt-in-your-mouth soft. Miso soup came soothing and light, keeping things grounded between bites. A crisp wedge of muskmelon followed, cool and refreshing, the kind of dessert that doesn’t try too hard but still feels luxe. And of course, the uni add-on — this time, it was Murasaki uni, paler in hue with a gentle, mellow sweetness. A softer note compared to the Bafun uni I’d had previously, which leaned rich, orange, sweet and briny.
Tried the limited-time Hidden Flame Omakase ($128++ for 2 Pax) at Standing Sushi Bar and it was pure umami indulgence from start to finish. The 9-piece aburi sushi lineup delivered smoky flair with restraint — each piece lightly torched to unlock depth while letting the fish’s character shine.
The grilled course brought satisfying char, miso soup and dessert wrapped things up with gentle sweetness.
Here’s how the sushi lineup played out:
1. Shima Aji + Sea Salt & Lemon
Firm, clean, with a zesty punch
2. Kinmedai + Vinegar Jelly
Delicate flesh with tangy jelly
3. Hamachi + Yuzu Miso
Smoky-sweet and ultra smooth
4. Shio Maguro
Lean and meaty
5. Hotate + Mentai
Charred scallop blanketed in creamy richness
6. Madai + Yuzu Zest
Citrusy lift over tender flesh
7. Aka Ebi + Miso
Juicy bounce and mellow umami
8. Chutoro + Yuzu Pepper
Velvety with a slow-burning spark
9. Otoro + Radish & Ponzu
Lush and buttery finish, brightened by crisp radish zing
