I had their seafood themed 8 course meal that was an such incredible experience every dish.
Starting off with the oyster, we ordered it grilled but there was an option of raw also. It came with a slice of lime, for you to squeeze on your own preferred amount. The sauce was sweet, savoury, sour and paired off really well with the umami from the oyster. Really whetted my appetite right from the get go!
The prawn toast was the best rendition I have had. The bread was really crispy but not greasy, the prawn paste had good 'Q' texture and flavour, and the fried sesame added some crisp and a little sesame fragrance to round out the dish. It was a really remarkable dish and I found myself wanting seconds!
The jumbo prawns was so plump, juicy, tasted so fresh and amazing when paired with the sauce. I think it was prawn or lobster bisque based sauce and it just amplifies the prawnness to the max! Every bite was just so satisfying and with five huge jumbo prawns the portion was quite filling. I would have licked the plate clean if not for the fact that I was seated in front of the chefs. I could see why the restaurant is named 'one prawn & co', their prawn dishes are just so remarkable!
The dessert was also incredible to end with. Burnt toast icecream with banana crumbs and mint leaves. Ice cream was rich and creamy, with crispy thin wafers to support it, like a super atas ice cream cart wafer sandwich. Brown banana crumbs give further complexity, texture and fragrance to the icecream. A mint leaf is added on to the end of each sandwich, which brings a minty, refreshing scent to the last bite. This lightens the dish so you get the pleasant finish from the dessert but not feel cloying from the rich creamy sweet icecream. Just amazing.
I received a card from the chef owner herself, where she talked about her vision for the food. The vision really carried through the course meal, the bounties of the sea paired with the meticulous craft of the chefs really brought a transformative experience for this dinner. Just a 10/10 experience where the staff, chef, and food impressed me in ways I did not know before.
I also highly recommend sitting at the counter, you do not have to interact with the chefs if you want, but you get to see their craft upfront and that is such an experience! The visuals and smells of the different kinds of food being cooked is simply too tantalising. My mouth could not stop watering and even though the 8 course meal was satisfying, I was really tempted to try all the other kinds of delicious foods as they were prepared (sourdough bread, lobster soup, steaks, just looked and smelled so good!)
We ordered the eight-course set meal, and the grilled oyster stood out with its appetising, slightly tangy sauce that made for a refreshing start. The prawn toast was also enjoyable, with bouncy prawn paste and perfectly crunchy toast. The seafood dishes were excellently cooked, and the use of different sauces really complemented their textures and flavours. The meal ended on a nostalgic note with delightful ice cream sandwiches.
Had my first fine dining experience in One Prawn & Co! We had the 8-course menu — fresh oysters to start, perfectly cooked octopus, and an outstanding kingfish loin with a tangy Green Goddess sauce. The jumbo prawns were a real highlight, and the burnt toast ice cream was a creative, nostalgic finish. Beautifully plated and well-balanced overall! Special mention their friendly service, the lady who served us was super lovely and even gave us a hand-written card.
Perfectly grilled jumbo prawn, juicy and full of natural flavor. I just couldn’t resist it! 😋 The flavors are crafted in a way that lets you truly taste the freshness and original quality of the ingredients. Beautifully plated and thoughtfully prepared, this is a perfect spot for a romantic date or a special seafood treat. 🦐✨
Lovely place suitable for both intimate gatherings or larger get togethers. Saw many friends celebrating their birthdays or just getting drinks on the night we visited. Tried their various seafood dishes and we left feeling really satisfied. The grilled oysters, salmon tartare, and black cod with seaweed porridge definitely left us wanting for more. If you are up for some spice, the octopus with assam pedas hummus is worth a try too! Found myself saving the lotus root chips just so I could try to scoop up more of the hummus. The cod with porridge in particular felt like a homely dish prepared with a lot of time and effort. Would highly recommend if you are looking for something warm and comforting. The dessert was not bad too, and it was a good way to end off our meal.
Previously went to their MacPherson outlet, and hence I had high expectations for One Prawn & Co., but they did not disappoint!
They offered a fixed course menu, or you could pick what you wanted to have. We went with the latter.
Salmon Tartare, Bang Bang, Sago - As the first dish served, this set a very high bar for the subsequent dishes which followed. I really liked the tanginess of the dish, and the salmon was very fresh too!
Ostra Regal Oysters and Lime Cheek (Grilled) - Loved this too, as the oysters came with a little bit of chili, which was tangy and spicy with some coriander.
Hokkaido XL Scallop, Noodle Nest, XO Chilli Jam - Could really taste the XO in the flavours of the dish. For the best effect, the scallop, noodles and sauce should be eaten together. The scallop was a really big piece too! The noodles were fried and crispy, but they didn't get soggy despite the sauce. You could taste the umaminess of prawn broth used to make the noodles.
7 Days Dry-aged Black Cod, Seaweed Porridge, Wanton Chips (215g) - After all the intense flavours of the previous dishes, the seaweed porridge and cod were a good reset to our palates. While the flavours were milder, you could still tell that the cod was well cooked - the skin was crisp but the cod meat was still tender and bouncy! Paired with the seaweed porridge, I didn't feel too overwhelmed by the fried cod skin (I usually do not eat fish skin).
Overall, I will greatly recommend One Prawn & Co. The dishes are very high quality, and prices are. very reasonable as well. I would definitely come back here again!
Delicious set dinner, every course offering savoury and unique experience. Great service with attentive staff
Ordered the set dinner with my hubby. Every course presented gave us an unique and delicious experience especially the prawn toast, super yummy. First time tried the Dry-aged kingfish, yummy texture n lightly smoked taste. Tiger prawns are grilled to perfection.
We ordered a bunch of a la carte dishes and everything came out super fast. The salmon tartare was spicy, fresh and really good, served on some puffed rice cracker of some sort. The bread was soft and crisp, and the seaweed butter was super tasty, kinda like seaweed soup. The prawn toast was the best dish hands down. Juicy plump prawns with great flavor and a nice crunch. Must order. The octopus was tasty too, nice grilled flavor with sambal belacan, soft but not mushy, with some chew. You can definitely tell its fresh. The lobster paofan looked great and the lobster was super fresh with strong flavor. Overall amazing food and super quick service. Definitely coming back for a special occassion.
super yummy! very nice ambiance for date nights or corporate hangouts tbh esp considering the location - def have to agree they’re more midrange prices expect like a $40/ pax pricing
but trust. so good.
the salmon tartar + prawn toast is a MUST try - they were super fresh & they held different taste at the same time; like this complex lovely taste coming altogether 🥰🥰😭
surprised at how the octopus was grilled nicely too and not at all rubbery which is common outside - literally saw the head chef constantly check the internal temperature HAHAHAH
The 200-day grain-fed Stockyard ribeye with nam jim jaew was a highlight — exceptionally tender and beautifully enhanced by the accompanying salt. The snow pork tsukune with cured egg yolk introduced an intriguing flavour. Closing with the burnt toast ice cream sandwich, accented by banana crumbs and mint, brought a refreshing sweetness that rounded out the meal with finesse.
I dined at One Prawn & Co and was impressed by the attentive and welcoming service. The staff kindly asked if i had any food allergies and introduced to me the food when i asked. The food was beautifully presented with well-balanced flavours, and the ambience was calm and comfortable, creating a lovely dining atmosphere. The overall experience was enjoyable and thoughtfully put together.
