Dining at One Prawn & Co was an absolute treat. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the service truly stood out — our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, offering helpful suggestions that made our meal all the more enjoyable.
We especially loved the jumbo tiger prawn and prawn toast. Each bite was full of flavour, and the sauce brought just the right balance to the dish.
I’ll definitely be returning soon — the beef is next on my list to try!
Went there on a weekday evening to try the food and really enjoyed the experience! We got seated at the counter and were able to watch the chefs grill and plate the different dishes; the chefs and servers were friendly and took the time to explain each dish. Tried a couple of different starters and mains but my favourites were definitely the beef bulgogi with uni starter and the black cod. The black cod's skin was super crispy and light while the meat was extremely tender, would definitely come back to eat this dish again!
Was told about this place by a peer when asking for a restaurant recommendation for New Bahru since it was my first time there. I was pleasantly surprised by the interesting infusion of local flavours to their menu. I particularly like their Asam Hummus grilled squid. The hummus dip was so good that I wanted to ask for a 2nd portion as a seafood dip for my other orders. The seaweed butter ,that came along with our sourdough bread, brought with it a subtle hint of umami goodness to our bread. The bread, by the way, was surprisingly chewy and soft. The grilled Kingfish came with a generous coating of Doenjang and Ssamjang bean paste which further helped to bring out the sweetness of the fish. The next good thing that came that evening was the ribeye served with an authentic splash of Nam Jim Jaew. This dish is a shout-out to all you Thai Isaan food lovers out there. Their version of Naam Jim Jaew was less heavy on the toasted chilli and had a little more citrusy profile to it. All in all, I would this is a good restaurant that you should try out as a good representation of up and coming Singaporean restauranteurs.
Sabai Sabai also does a tasty salted egg calamari.
The squid is chewy and tender with a good bite to it and the batter crisp. The salted egg sauce is a good blend of creamy and savoury. I like the use of laksa leaf which complements the sauce.
The food at Sabai Sabai can be a tad pricey but I think it's value for money quality-wise!
I am a recent convert to the culinary delights of the humble eggplant and it has been a must order for me, be it in the neighbourhood cai png store or a Thai/Chinese restaurant.
Sabai Sabai serves a really wonderful stir fried eggplant with minced pork. I can't seem to find this dish on their regular menu so it was probably an off the menu item. The eggplant is flavoured with an umami filled sauce made from fermented bean sauce, garlic, Thai sweet basil, soy sauce and oyster sauce. All of these flavours are soaked into the tender "meat" of the eggplant. I also love the sweet caramelised notes of the minced pork and onions, and the licorice-like taste of the Thai basil.
This dish is excellent over rice and a literal rice thief!
Rich and flavourful broth, the lobster meat was chewy and tasted very fresh!!
For desserts, we had their brie cheesecake, a light airy cheesecake made of creamy and rich brie cheese on a light crumbly cookie base.
I actually rather enjoyed this. The brie cheese was creamy, buttery and nutty and the cookie base was not too heavy.
Tapas24 is a wonderful place for Spanish food. The prices are a little steep and the portion a little on the small side. But the service was delightfully sincere and personable.
Paella is often considered the soul of Spanish cuisine, representing its rich cultural history, identity and communal spirit. It's a symbol of hospitality and togetherness.
Arroz Negro is a Valencian and Catalan form of seafood paella. Its signature black colour comes from squid ink and cuttlefish and it is usually made with garlic, green Cuban elle peppers, sweet paprika, olive oil and seafood broth.
I love its deep, umami-rich flavours of this dish - the uniquely earthy and mineral notes of the squid ink and the sweet savoury and oceanic essence of the seafood broth, enhanced by spices such as garlic, onions, smoked paprika and saffron which add more depth to the flavours.
I like that Tapas 24 serves a garlicky saffron aioli on the side as its rich and creamy elements complement the rich, briny and savoury flavours of the seafood. My only qualm is that the portion is a little on the small side!
Wonderful dinner at One Prawn & Co.
Overall service staff was attentive with classy ambiance.
Started with Ankimo mousse with love letters, presented with wonderful contrast between crunchy love letters and buttery smooth mousse.
Next was Hamachi Crudo. Light and refreshing, with a nice balance of tanginess from Kimchi.
Main course was dry aged Kingfish collar. Cooked in wood fired oven, slathered with rich soy based sauce. Served with perilla leaves, blanched garlic slices, smoked daikon slices and pickled chillies. All to be wrapped up Korean style using lettuce before being consumed. Fish was smoky, tender and moist in the middle, all the accountremonts in the wrap makes a nice balance of flavours all around.
Visited One Prawn & Co. for dinner date with my love.
The food was splendid and the ambiance was prefect for our special night.
We started off with love letter filled with Ankimo Mousse and Hamachi Crudo & kimchi. Nice contrasting texture and balanced taste. The Prawn & Aioli was my favorite appetizer, the prawn was super juicy and the toast below was crispy, crunchy and delicious.
We were surprised by the big portion (definitely enough for 3-4 people to share) of Kingfish Head and how innovative it was presented. Chef recommended us to have it ssam (wrap the ingredients in lettuce with condiments). Fun and tasty.
Sweet night ended with sweet dessert of smoked ice cream and coffee tuile will never go wrong.
OPC is full of surprises and will definitely return to try other dishes.
Their signature fish burger gave pure pleasure with every bite. The batter was perfectly crisp, with a juicy fish fillet, and served with an amazing sauce, all in a romantically lit atmosphere.
Gambas Al Ajillo is a classic must order tapas in any Spanish restaurant that features sautéed prawns with garlic, chilli and extra virgin olive oil served hot.
Tapas24 serves a decent rendition of this classic dish. The shrimps were fleshy and juicy. However, the olive oil was lacking in garlic flavours and tasted rather flat. It was surprisingly my least favourite dish of the night.
