Had the hokkien mee & Kaya butter toast set (change to ice tea o) & kopi o ice for $15.90

The toast bread cannot compare to ya kun but Kaya given was generous and overflowing.

Star of the show is their hokkien mee that is the wet version ($7) and love the wok hey

This roasted meat stall is now located at this corner coffee shop next to Cantonment Road now.

They still open late afternoon on Sunday and decided to grab my quick meal here.

Open air atmosphere and enjoying a plate of char siew rice.

Kaya Toast Set @$5
+$1.20 to change drink to Iced Milo

Kaya Toast Ala carte @ $2

By far, the best kaya toast I ever had.

The ratio of kaya & butter was precisionly just right.

Every table of hokkien mee, will have a plate of these awesome Kaya toast.

Just be ready for the long waiting time, for the hokkien mee, as well as for the Kaya Butter Toast.

Limited number of tables, so be ready to queue for food and queue for tables during peak lunch & Dinner hours.

As I said in my earlier post on Treasure Toast, I will be back to feature Bao Er Cafe which likewise serves kaya toast and hokkien mee.

Their kaya spread uses fresh coconut milk and you can immediately taste the creamy and nutty flavours in it. For those with a sweet tooth, you will definitely like their kaya which is on the sweet side.

I also like that they have somehow found the golden ratio of butter, kaya and bread, ensuring that you get a good balance of all in one mouth!

I personally peg this together with Coffee Hut at Jalan Berseh as my go to for kaya toast!

I was here when the stall just opened in the morning. Soon after I got mine, the queue has formed and getting longer.

Although the founder has passed way many years ago, and the stall also awarded with Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand for a few years back then. People would still coming here for a plate of decent rojak.

A mix of different ingredients such as the jellyfish, youtiao, tau pok, cucumber and fresh fruits. Covered with generous rich rojak sauce.

Love the combination of taste and I went for the spicy one with chili added.

This old school bak kut teh can found in this very nostalgic coffee shop at the corner along Balestier Road. Open early morning till late night.

For an individual portion, it comes with just 3 pieces of pork meat. And the meat was too soft and lean for me. But the peppery soup still excellent and you can ask for refill.

Golden Roast Char Siew serves up a solid plate of Wanton Mee. What makes them good is definitely their dipping sauce; flavourful and spicy.

Generous portion of char siew. Which was the traditional dry type, but goes very well with the dark soya sauce dipping sauce.

Stall is managed by an elderly and friendly couple.

Qinde is now my go to place for Portuguese egg tarts. Ever since my favourite Madeleine ceased operations last month.

Located in Whampoa Makan Place hawker centre, Qinde has been around for quite some time. Google ratings are great.

Have eaten here many times before and the egg tarts here are always consistently good.

The crust is flakey and soft and buttery.
The egg pudding tasted creamy and the texture was soft, like melted cheese.

Theirs is a very wet version. Super thick but not sticky, the flavour is quite good given how thick it is. It's almost a paste because the noodles are soft too.

Prawns were pretty snappy and clean tasting. The lard was decent, chili was smashing and unique

A good rendition. For the style of hokkien mee I expected more umami from a strong stock, then it would have been excellent

It's ABIT more cooked than normal but their eggs are special too, because it tastes a lot thicker than normal. Unfortunately the soy sauce sucks, too sweet
