One of the stalls that you can find queue in this hawker centre, Lao Chen Ju is famous for their yong tao fu that you can pair with a bowl of kolo mee.

Choose minimum 5 pieces of yong tao foo, each of them are delicious and taste well with the soup.

The kolo mee has lots of minced meat and fried shallots on the top. Remember to ask for spicy version to get the kick of taste.

Black Sesame Mochi Shio Pan ($2.80)
â—‹Wish there was more of the earthy fragrant black sesame paste! Baked with their signature shio pan, the sesame-studded bun had a very pleasant savoury note which matched swimmingly with the sweet nutty filling. The mochi was so fun to bite into as well, soft and chewy~

Garlic Cheese Shio Pan ($2.60)
â—‹Real garlicky (beware of garlic breath). A lovely savoury number but nothing too mind-blowing.

Maple Bacon Shio Pan ($2.60)
â—‹Love me a salty and sweet combo. The slightly tacky coating of maple syrup worked surprisingly well with the bacon-stuffed salt bread.

Mentaiko Onion Shio Pan ($3.20)
○A tad too cloying for me with the rich creamy cod roe sauce (it kinda overpowered the taste of the bread in my opinion) and I personally felt that the chopped onions didn’t help to cut that heaviness. But a nice option if you like a strong flavour.

OG Shio Pan ($2)
â—‹My favourite! It proved that it is hard to go wrong with their classic Shio Pan. Very buttery, wonderfully tender with a slight chew and had a really nice tinge of saltiness.

🗒 I ordered online for their island-wide delivery but you can also choose self-pickup to save yourself from a possible snaking queue~

After dinner at Star Vista, my family and I were on the lookout for a dessert place and happened to chance upon Plan A Dessert Cafe. Located away from the bustling crowds on the lower levels of the mall, the cafe is situated on the second floor, offering a dining view of the Star Vista Atrium.

They have a wide selection of Bingsu flavors, and after some deliberation, we settled on a large bowl of Choco Banana. Firstly and most importantly, the shaved ice was perfect—soft like snow and deliciously milky. The toppings of banana, chocolate ice cream, oreo bits, and whipped cream were fantastic, making for a fail-proof flavor combination.

I will definitely be back again when I am in the area to try their other Bingsu flavors. I highly recommend Plan A if you are looking for a pleasant dessert place to enjoy great Bingsu with your friends and family or to treat yourself!

Went for a weekday dinner with my family at Boon Teng Kee Happynest, located at the basement level of Star Vista. The restaurant offers plenty of outdoor seating and a few indoor tables. Given the Singapore weather, I opted for the indoor air-conditioned seating, which was a comfortable choice as the place was about half full.

We ordered their signature boiled kampong chicken along with a few other dishes to share. The kampong chicken tasted okay, but given the price, I expected a larger portion. It's worth noting that kampong chickens are typically smaller and less meaty but offer a softer texture and better flavor. The saving grace was the chili sauce, which wasn't too spicy but had a nice kick and complemented the chicken and rice well.

The other dishes we tried included Stewed Pork Belly with Mui Choy, Spinach with Assorted Eggs, Salted Egg Prawns, and Crispy Beancurd. While all the dishes were decent, my personal favorite was the Crispy Beancurd. The skin was thin and lightly fried, with a hot, steaming, and soft beancurd inside, paired perfectly with the wasabi mayo sauce.

Overall, for the price point, some aspects could be improved, particularly the portion sizes. I believe their other branches, especially those at coffee shops, will be a better option.

1) 1x Premium Pork Loin
2) 1x Pork Fillet
3) 2X prawn

Listed in the Michelin Bib Gourmand Guide

Imakatsu is one of the better Tonkatsu shops in SG, almost as good as Katsukura that I had at Kyoto.

The Premium Loin is the must have here, it was fattier than the pork fillet. Thus it was more tender and more shiok.

The Pork Fillet was good too, but after eating the Premium Loin, the Pork Fillet felt dry liao.

Tempura set was huge. Tonpeiyaki was not bad. Food were priced somewhat reasonably and tastes ok. However, the ambience is lacking and the place is rather understaffed.

Pretty good, sweet and soft risotto with nice mushrooms and cheese. The risotto didn't taste too much of pumpkin tho, however overall still good execution

The meats come w 2 sides, the pastas and risottos don't for set lunch

Today the sides for set lunch were fine. The pork belly was thinly sliced and was almost fried tbh, but it was pretty decent

Octopus was rubbery. 100g so it's really quite expensive for this level of execution

Yong Tau Foo ($4.70) for ingredients was taste much better previously that I have tried in the past. I think some ingredients got a lot of variety to choose from but for soup otherwise was slightly oily. For yong tau foo can choose between soup and dry base and six ingredients + extra charge for kolo mee.
