The gravy leaned tangy and slightly sweet, very different from the richer Malay style. The bee hoon soaked it up nicely and the squeeze of lime gave a refreshing lift. With egg and tau kwa on the side, it came together as a simple, homely bowl without being heavy 》$3.50

Established in April 1991 and recognised with a Michelin plate, this stall is well regarded for its tasty rendition, and likewise infamous for the brusque and hurried attitude of its staff.
.
Their thin and clear hot soup / broth carries meaty savoury sweet bitter herbal flavour, from stewing mutton bones with a variety of herbs over 3 hours or more.
.
Garnished with tender deboned mutton meat with meaty savoury flavour, bouncy mutton meat balls with meaty savoury salty flavour, and fresh coriander and ginger with vegetal bitter herbal sweet spice flavour. There's a good ratio of fat to lean meat. Served with white rice, and an optional splash of black vinegar for added sour tangy flavour kick.

This is the only stall in the coffee shop that is still open for dinner and it gets crowded during peak hours so it is best to make a reservation. They are more well known for their charcoal fishhead steamboat but this time round we went ahead with their tze char dishes.

Food is priced relatively affordable. The fried pork with garlic was crispy and good. I would say the other vegs are also done above average. Chilli crab was pretty normal (not their speciality) but priced reasonably. I will be back another day to give their steamboat a try. You know it is good when you see it on every table.

Tried the buta bara (pork belly) and kawa (chicken skin) skewers. The buta bara was smoky, juicy and nicely balanced between fat and meat. The kawa leaned too far on the crispy side. Was expecting a bit of chew to go with the crunch but it came out overly crisp, losing that texture.

Silky, chilled tofu topped with century egg, crabstick, tobiko and spring onions. This is a refreshing little starter that’s all about texture and contrast. The tofu’s smooth and cool, toppings add creaminess and crunch and the sauce ties it all together with a light savoury touch.

Always loved this dish and it’s one of those starters you’ll only find at Japanese restaurants. Definitely not for those who dislike century egg, but for fans, it’s a comforting classic that never disappoints 》$8.40

Torched mentai sauce gives that smoky, creamy richness, while the tempura flakes add crunch to every bite. The salmon stays fresh and tender, making the whole roll a nice balance of texture and flavour 》$19.40

Bai Nian keeps things simple with thin bee hoon as the only noodle option, served with a fixed set of ingredients like beancurd, bitter gourd, pork paste, prawn paste and their signature gold, black and white rolls. The black roll is pork paste wrapped in beancurd skin, the white roll is fish paste in beancurd skin, while the gold combines both pork and fish paste. The soup is light and clean with distinct notes of soybeans and anchovies.

Generation Coffee Roasters brings café‑style drinks to the hawker centre at wallet‑friendly prices. Their matcha latte is smooth and creamy, made with premium Japanese matcha powder and Meiji full cream milk. The balance between the earthy matcha and rich milk feels just right, giving you a comforting cup that’s both indulgent and guilt‑free 》$4.20

Made a trip to Bedok for my Thai fix. Went with the chicken tom yum noodle this time and it’s way better than the seafood version since the prawns aren’t always fresh. Broth still packs that sour-spicy punch though.

Also got the deep-fried pork with garlic — crispy, garlicky and perfect with the sweet chili dip. The Thai vermicelli salad was fresh and punchy with a good mix of seafood and heat. Still one of my go-to spots for no-frills, flavour-packed Thai food.

[BEDOK, SINGAPORE] I honestly can't remember how many times I've eaten their lava cookie & gelato combo already 😂 but it's so good each time!!

Their Chocolate Lava Cookie is still the best, with a lovely molten centre that had a satisfying viscosity when the server placed the scoop of gelato on top. The chocolate itself is rich & decadent, while the cookie has a biscuit-like crumbly texture.

For the gelato we got the Brown Sugar Tau Huay, which I believe is new. Smooth and fragrant without being too heavy, this wasn't too sweet and was a perfect match to the rich lava cookie.

I remember their waffles being subpar, so I would definitely recommend this over their waffles. 10/10 will order this again. Like right now 😂
