Despite the simple execution, I quite enjoyed how this dish reminded me of a home-cooked one. The steak was served atop a bed of pickled purple cabbage and plain mashed potatoes, with a scattering of some greens.
Onto the meat! The steak was so juicy I could feel oil dribbling through my lips with each bite. However, I would’ve liked a darker and crispier sear. The meat was also a little overdone; I usually prefer a soft reddish core full of myoglobin when ordering at medium gradation, but this one was just pinkish and almost cooked through. But not to be picky, this was good enough to sate my hunger! Furthermore, I liked how the healthier sides cleansed my palate, especially the cabbage with its acerbic effect on my tongue.
This dish was served atop a bed of crispy and fresh rockets. Absolutely loved how garlicky the tomato bruschetta was! Each mound was firm and managed to hold its shape, going very well with the toasted and lightly buttered baguette slices.
Two rather dense and soggy halves of a full crepe. I personally didn’t enjoy this due to its noticeably “eggy” taste, the only flavour standing out against its blandness. My sister, on the other hand, claims that aunthentic crepes taste like this and gobbled it up eagerly...to each his own I guess. Comes with icing sugar and maple syrup.
Apart from the food being tasty, their portions are really big too - makes the price totally worth it. Although it’s a little far out in Bukit Timah area, it’s the perfect place for a chill Sunday wind down to prepare for the week ahead 👍🏻 #ahungrywessg #hollandase .
