good on paper, but delivery was lacking abit. Umami was there, but the lard wasnt top grade and so it wasnt crispy and there's a slight bitter taste. It tingles despite me asking for less spicy, so the real deal is probably gonna be saliva inducing. Prawns were big and meaty, if slightly mushy. Also the whole dish was slightly dry, luckily there's iced water provided tho
This is a lot spicier than it looks, but so tasty. 2 very large prawns top a tangle of spaghetti thoroughly mixed through with umami-rich hae bee hiam and crunchy lardons. It’ll tingle your taste buds for sure.

Neighbourhood izakaya joint Iza puts their own local twist to many of the items on the menu, including their popular Otah Tamago which can be seen on many a table in the restaurant. Plush square parcels of egg ensconce soft squares of meaty, homemade otah with just a hint of mild spiciness, the perfect snack to go along with a frosty mug of beer or highball.

Iza’s signature rice balls stuffed with hae bee hiam are suffused with flavour, but were slightly too dry and crumbly. Its texture might benefit from the use of a different variety of rice.

The bright, fresh red of the housemade chilli slathered upon the unctuous eggplant made me wary, but I needn’t have worried, because the heat and spice were perfectly balanced. A pleasant bonus were the soft bulbs of garlic scattered atop, full of mellow, garlicky flavour.

A serviceable rendition of an izakaya mainstay, but otherwise unremarkable. The side of chilli sauce served with the squid is blow your head off spicy though.
