Hailing from the Java Archipelago, you can expect to experience authentic Indonesian cooking at IndoChili. As a leading family-friendly Halal Indonesian Restaurant in Singapore, it has garnered various culinary awards over the years.
The textures and flavours of these separate components on the plate came together wonderfully. To my surprise, the Ayam Bumbu Rujak was so succulent and packed with flavour.
P.S. Try their signature Tahu Telor, a crispy beancurd omelette served with sweet peanut sauce.

Ayam Bakar Kecap @ $9.80 per serving. Indochilli serves one of the best Indonesian cuisine. I love how soft and tasty the chicken is and they serve with Sambal Belachan. It’s a win!

I have no idea what “teler” translates to but I can at least postulate that it’s related to decadent sweetness!! A medley of tropical fruits - soft and fresh avocado slices, creamy coconut strips and juicy jackfruit cubes - top an intermediary of shaved ice bathed in evaporated milk. Each scoop of flavored ice is oh-so refreshing! 😍 Though yummy as well, the merely mediocre chendol was completely overshadowed. Plus, the gula melaka was a little too sweet for my liking. Although the Es teler is admittedly less visually appealing, I assure you that the taste is worth it!

I know not what kind of sauce it’s been slathered in, but this sotong is amazing!! Coming in huge pieces, each ringlet is springy, soft and SO FRESH! Almost as if we fished it out the sea from right beside our table. I especially liked how easy it was to eat each piece, without the need for incessant chewing 😂

An interesting take on a traditional dish: though comprising the same ingredients of egg and tofu, the overall taste and feel is almost entirely different from what I’m used to. The deep fried sheets of egg behave almost like a sponge, absorbing and being completely saturated with a cloyingly sweet type of gravy that borders on being overwhelming... as such, I much prefer the dryer and more savoury version! The thick peanut sauce managed to mask the sweet taste at least. On a side note, crackers were stale and not crisp 😞

Feast your eyes on these babies and take a moment to appreciate that titillating sheen of Indochili’s secret sweet & savoury sauce. Also the charred, blackened edges, sporadically present all over each skewer which speaks volumes about the excellence of their cooking method. Each skewer is so well done, I can’t even taste the characteristic gamey taste (common in traditional Singaporean beef satay) above everything else. Could’ve been a tad less tough, but I’m more than satisfied with this!
