I usually come here for supper and the prata is reliably good, crisp outside with soft layers inside. This time I decided to have prata in the morning instead. The onion prata still carried its sweetness and bite but the plain prata came out overly crispy and hard, more like a biscuit, missing that slightly chewy, doughy texture I prefer.

The curry and sambal‑style chilli gravy were still good, giving the familiar flavour and kick. Just that the plain prata this morning was disappointing compared to the consistent nights I have had here. Not sure if it was a different person cooking but the difference was noticeable.

The Cajun chicken came juicy and well‑seasoned with mozzarella melting into the Cajun sauce for a creamy layer. Sides of Cajun fries and mushroom soup made the set generous. The overall portion was big enough to feed two of me and for the price, it’s worth the buck 》$9 + $1.50 Mushroom Soup

This MXG is fragrant without being oily, spice brings warmth but doesn’t overwhelm and I like that there are no peppercorns in sight so it stays smooth and easy to enjoy without the numbing overload.

The fried specials are the highlight. Fish fillets stay crisp outside with tender flesh, luncheon meat turns golden and crunchy and potato slices snap with every bite. Fried separately, they add crunch and richness without greasiness, making the bowl satisfying all around 》$18.25

The mochi taro jasmine feels richer with earthy taro blending into floral jasmine tea. The warm and soft mochi at the bottom adds gentle chew that breaks up the creaminess. It makes the cup interesting and comforting, a standout on the menu that shows a nice contrast. The white peach oolong milk tea is more refreshing choice, light and fragrant with a velvety texture that makes it easy to sip.

As compared to the shank, the pork belly is softer with its layers of lean and fat breaking down under the thick herbal braise gravy. The gravy seeps into the rice, giving each bite a savoury depth. Each bowl comes with a mushroom, egg and greens which bring texture against the richness of the braise and meat 》$5.50

The pork shank is braised until tender with lean and fatty pieces that soaked up the thick herbal braise gravy. The gravy is glossy and savoury, clinging to the rice, giving each spoonful a deep and comforting flavour. Each bowl comes with mushroom, egg and greens which add balance to the richness. For the portion served, it feels value for money, hearty and satisfying for those who enjoy a thick braise. The queue stretches at times but once you dig in, the wait feels worthwhile 》$4.50

Under each silky skin was a juicy pork filling that soaked up the sauce beautifully. The chilli oil leaned more aromatic than fiery, with savoury depth and a gentle tang that kept the flavours lively. The balance of smooth wrapper, tender meat and fragrant sauce made each bite satisfying. The portion felt generous and affordable, a dish that draws me back for both taste and value whenever I’m at this hawker 》$6

The XLB came steaming with thin and delicate skin that held the broth beautifully without breaking. The soup inside was rich and flavourful while the pork filling stayed tender and well marinated. The meat‑to‑skin ratio felt generous, giving each bite a satisfying balance of filling and broth. Affordable at a dollar each, they delivered both taste and craft without feeling heavy on the wallet 》$6

The chicken thigh was juicy inside but the crust came out heavier, almost over‑fried which made the bite less easygoing. The honey mustard sauce added a tangy note but stayed mild, not strong enough to cut through the fry. Bacon and lettuce gave some crunch yet the burger leaned more on texture than flavour 》$8.50 ALC

Each main came with two sides and I went for mac & cheese and onion rings. The grilled chicken thigh was juicy under a tangy lemon lime sauce. The sides added that familiar comfort and crunch. The sides gave that mix of creaminess and crunch, familiar in a way that reminded me of my student days when this was the kind of hearty, simple and still affordable meal 》$13.90

Curry chicken noodle with a broth that was fragrant, rich and light enough to sip. Steamed chicken was tender, tau pok soaked up the curry and the potatoes were
soft but still holding their shape without turning mushy. Noodles carried the flavour well. It’s the kind of comfort food that feels especially right on a cold day 》$5.50

The mochi waffle came crisp at the edges but overly chewy inside, almost too much mochi. I sampled a few gelato flavours and none left much impression. Sticky date pudding sounded promising, yet on the waffle it turned cloying. Already sweet on its own and further weighed down by maple syrup drizzle. Texture was interesting at first but the flavour balance tipped into heavy and overly sweet 》$6.90 Mochi Waffle + $5.20 Premium Flavour
