Old school and fantastic Steamboat

Having a choice of fish head or fish meat, we unanimously voted to go fish meat as we were lazy to deal with bones.

And we were served with a steamboat full of fresh slices of batang fish meat.

But what really won us all over was how fantastic, 5* great the Soup was. It was flavourful and tasted damn good.

The fish meat was also fresh and portion is damn huge.

Free top up of soup, but the top up seems like just a pot of hot water.

Auntie will push a cart of side dishes over to order like those hong kong dim sum push cart. There was braised duck, braised egg and salted Vegetables. Some days have pork trotters.

(Big Size - $5) I managed to queue up for this before they closed for day. I saw people queued up for this stall and also think that it's must be so good and delicious. It's really taste like old school style and soup broth is quite hot and plain.

A popular fish-head Steamboat that transforms into a Fishball Noodles shop in the morning.

Their Kway Teow noodles seems the facourote combination from all those that ordered before me, so I just follow. The kway teow with its wide surface area absorbs the chilli better that the usual yellow noodles. Chilli shiok.

Meatballs were tender. Fishballs were bouncy.

Rather Long queue during lunch time.

A fish head charcoal soup at night, Xin Heng Feng operates a booming fishball noodle business in the morning, with snaking queues when I went at 9am on a weekday. I figured that what makes them so popular is their efficiency, though each bowl made on the spot, as well as their affordability. This large bowl of noodles cost $5, with a generous portion of ingredients. And not so much your classic fishball noodle with minced meat and fishballs only - they have wantons and lean meat as well. However, flavour wise, I didn’t think much of it. The soup and ingredients were nothing special, and the noodle was a tad bit dry as well. That being said, this still satiated my need for a classic Singaporean noodle breakfast.

I was here at 8am On the first Saturday of 2021. It was windy and rainy...and there was NO QUEUE. There are many Teochew fishball noodle stalls around. Some tout handmade fishballs. This one...less artisan, more value for money. The common man’s meepok/kway teow. Get the $4 and you have a wantons, sliced pork, fish and pork balls. The sole powder game is strong in the soup! I would recommend kway Teow/mee for the contrasting textures!

This stall at Whampoa Hawker Centre sells one of the best mince meat noodle that I have tasted so far.
For $4, there is so much ingredients (mince meat, sliced meat, meatball, wanton)and the noodles are handmade, not like the type that you get from a typical mince meat noodle. The texture is a on the softer side but it is just nice for me.
Queue moves quite fast as there are 2 'stations' :)
Will surely come back again to try their other selections.
