($7.90) they released Original Yam Paste last a couple of year when they they opened on first branch at one-north. Yam Paste taste like just creamy and milky and infused with coconut milk.

($8.90) they released Purple Sweet Potato + Yam Paste last dec when they opened on new branch at millenia walk. My friend and I saw it while walking on sun lol so we decided to try their toast. But the purple sweet potato taste like Japan don don donki. Yam Paste taste like just creamy and milky and infused with coconut milk.

Move over kaya butter toast—there’s a new contender in town! SuuKee Coffee has put a twist on the classic with their Orh Nee Toast, featuring options like the OG Orh Nee and Orh Nee Butter.

Between the two, the OG Orh Nee steals the show. The subtle sweetness of the yam paste shines through, perfectly complementing the crispy toast and offering a delightful contrast in textures. While the addition of butter in the Orh Nee Butter Toast adds a cold, savory element, it slightly overpowers the delicate flavor of the yam paste.

If you’re a fan of orh nee, this is a must-try upgrade to your usual toast!

A taro fan through and through, I had been to Suukee Coffee on two separate occasions for their popular Orh Nee toasts. I enjoyed their OG Orh Nee Toast on the first visit, though I found it a little mild tasting, so I went back for a taste of the other variants.

Packed with a decently thick pat of butter, the Orh Nee Butter Toast ($3.80) was pretty satisfying to bite into. The butter added that pleasant decadence as the filling itself was smooth, creamy, none too sweet, and just relatively light in yam flavour with gentle aromatic hints of coconut. For me, the buttery taste can come off a tad strong but complementary overall with the toasted sliced bread.

If you’re looking for something more savoury, the Orh Nee Pork Floss Toast ($4.20) was a fascinating pairing. With a fairly generous amount of floss, the fun combo felt more substantial and richer in taste with the pronounced meaty flavour. Rather umami, all in all. There was a nice mix of textures too; the slightly sweet velvety orh nee paste and cotton-like seasoned pork floss.

If you haven't heard already, @suukeecoffeesg is known for their delicious taro orh nee toasts, and we went back for their other variations, as well as their lunch fare 😍

Among the many variations, the one with coconut flakes ($3.80) and with pork floss ($4.20) appealed to me the most, as not only you get a good creamy orh nee flavour, you get more rich coconut flavour from the fresh shavings, and savouriness from the pork floss respectively! Loved the added texture too!

For their lunch fare, the Curry Chicken ($8.50) is one comforting bowl to get. The curry itself is rich yet homely, and the chicken was tender! The potato was well cooked as well. Definitely a meal to give you the needed energy to power through your afternoon. As for their Char Siew Scrambled Egg Rice Bowl ($9.50), it was a good alternative as well, especially with its fluffy egg and tender char siew.

To complement your meal, you must get their Orh Nee Iced Coffee ($4.80), as it was so delicious! The orh nee complemented the strong coffee well, and you can taste both flavours well. It comes with several toppings as well, including taro balls!

Has been to SuuKee Coffee some time back when they had just opened theirs doors — fast forward things to now, and SuuKee Coffee does seem to be doing fairly well as it enters it first anniversary of its operations. A spot that is known for putting effort in the making of their dishes to distinguish themselves in the saturated F&B scene here, one thing that is fairly known about SuuKee Coffee is how they have sourced their coffee directly from Malaysia for their Signature White Kopi, with themselves being in the know of how the coffee beans were being roasted by the supplier. It does seem that SuuKee Coffee has not been resting on their laurels ever since they have stabilised their operations — they had recently launched their new Orh Nee Toast with Coconut Cream as well as a Orh Nee Iced Kopi / Tea that would likely attract the attention of those whom are into yam-based creations.

SuuKee Coffee had fine tuned its operations and the toast bar is now located in an area away from the main food preparation area — orders for their toast are taken at the usual counter but patrons would be required to pass the order chit to the staff manning the toast bar and wait for their orders to be ready for collection. The Orh Nee Toast with Coconut Cream is not too different from their regular Kaya Butter Toast — SuuKee Coffee uses white bread with the skin totally trimmed off for their toss items; the obvious difference with the Orh Nee Toast with Coconut Cream being the inclusion of the house-made yam paste and coconut cream that replaces the butter and Pandan-infused coconut jam. The white bread is toasted a crisp on the surface here but still maintains a soft, light and fluffy texture inside — the yam paste carries a slight earthiness with very soft chunks of yam that provides a bit of a contrast in terms of texture; the addition of coconut cream adding a bit of a creamy sweetness that add a bit of richness without totally overwhelming the yam paste. Patrons can also opt for the addition of crushed peanuts for an additional cost of $0.20 though we skipped out on the option. Whilst not an entirely new take on the classic Hainanese breakfast, the Orh Nee Toast with Coconut Cream from SuuKee Coffee is one that yam lovers should try out at least once to see what the item is all about.
