[ALJUNIED, SINGAPORE] Chicken rice with ajitama egg?? Yes please 😁 @chickennicesg serves up really generous delicious chicken that was such a joy to have 🥹
Their Half Chicken ($19) can easily feed 4 pax due to its sheer size 😲 I think it's about 1.2 times bigger than average chicken rice stalls! The chicken was really moist and tender, even at the breast portions. Paired with their spicy ginger chilli, this was easily enjoyable with their fragrant rice. The add ons like Chicken Gizzard ($2/3), Bean Sprouts ($2) or Onsen Egg ($1.2) really completes the meal too. I especially loved their chicken gizzard as it was crunchy 😆
Definitely a meal to consider when you're around the area!
[CHINATOWN, SINGAPORE] With tens or if not hundreds of restaurants selling Chinese food in Chinatown, @gongjinglisg stood out to us due to the huge portion sizes, reasonable prices and really good food 😍
One of the best dishes to get is their Guo Qian Yu, as the fish was freshly prepared and the meat texture was superb. Soft and flaky, it was cooked in some kind of chilli oil that has a reasonable heat.
The Shredded Cabbage ($9.90) and Fried Chicken with Chestnuts ($15.90) were must buys too, as they were such good rice stealers. Smoky and savoury, these 2 dishes were enough for me to say that I want to come back here again.
I was also surprised by their Seafood Porridge ($5.50), as it was packed full of umami from what I believe is dried shrimps. There were loads of seafood such as shrimps and squid within that were cooked well too!
This was such an excellent meal 😍 as it can be quite popular, do be prepared to wait a while for your food over weekend timings, or you can visit them during off peak timings from Mon to Thurs :)
[JOO CHIAT, SINGAPORE] Although desserts are a speciality in @withinthewalls.sg, they do good dim sum and mains as well!
Their Orh Nee ($7.90) was simply fantastic, with such an aromatic yam flavour with rich coconut milk. We wiped the bowl clean, together with their seasonal Durian Snow Ice ($14.80). It had the right ice texture and was so rich and aromatic without being surfeiting! This dessert needs no toppings and was so darn addictive.
For their dim sum, their Fried Shrimp Roll ($4.80) is definitely my favourite, as it had a prominent shrimp flavour. For larger mains, check out their Curry Chicken Rice ($9.80), as it was so meaty and the curry was very aromatic!
Even their drinks were good! I loved my Ice Lemon Tea ($5.80) as it was made fresh and definitely didn't taste artificial.
Thank you @burpple and @withinthewalls.sg for the invite and scrumptious meal!
[MULTIPLE OUTLETS, SINGAPORE] @twystpasta offers quick halal certified pasta that is good for fuss free meals. While many of their outlets are takeaway kiosks, their newest outlet in Century Square has seating spaces!
Their Dry Laksa Olio Spaghetti with Sauteed Prawns, Cherry Tomato and Edamame ($10.90) had a good coconut flavour, with a nice manageable spice kicking in after. I like how it isn't too wet, and the pasta was quite al dente. The prawns may be frozen ones but they were quite snappy. Quite decent for a simple pasta.
You can also customise your pasta, which we did with the Miso Butter base. With added sous vide egg and prawns, this was quite satisfying as well due to its sweet and savoury combination, with a rich buttery flavour.
As much as their pastas are quite decent for a quick fuss free meal, I do think their service can be better improved! The staff were kind but I think they tend to forget some orders here and there. Probably some more experience will make it better.
Thank you @scalecollab.sg for the invite and @twystpasta for the food!
[CLARKE QUAY] Had a chance to visit the 1st Teochew restaurant in Clarke Quay and my experience was AMAZING. The food, service and vibes were immaculate!
Among the many Teochew dishes served, one of my favourites got to be the Cold Drunken Yellow Roe Crab ($88). It was so meaty, rich and full of umami! Best shared among your loved ones 😁
Even the desserts were good. Their Orh Nee ($7) and Peach Gum Hokkaido Milk ($8) were great sweet endings to the meal! I especially loved the Peach Gum Hokkaido Milk due to how rich and milky the dessert was 😍
Be sure to reserve your table via Chope with the promo code FYLOBSTER to get a COMPLIMENTARY Creamy Pumpkin Boston Lobster! It was so satisfying and the lobster meat was so fresh as it was taken from the live seafood tank located in the restaurant.
Thank you @fuyuandining.sg for inviting and the scrumptious food!
[CLARKE QUAY, SINGAPORE] I realised many lala hotpot stalls are located in kopitiams where you need to bear the heat, but at @erdangjia.sg, you can enjoy quality lala hotpot in air-conditioned environment and even sing karaoke while you wait for the soup to boil!
Their Sakura Pork Bone Broth ($15) was really delightful with 1kg of White Clams ($22) as the resultant soup base was so flavourful with meaty and seafood flavours! The additional splash of shaoxing wine added another dimension of flavour which was addictive!
As for their side dishes, they were all of high quality. I especially loved the Sea Bass Whole Fillet ($22.80) as the slices were thick and fresh, perfect with some chilli sauce! Their Pork Belly Shabu ($8.80) was tender and fresh as well.
With some amount of minimum spending, you will be able to dine in a private room with karaoke set, and you can sing till your heart's content while sipping their wonderful hotpot broth!
Thank you @erdangjia.sg for inviting and the scrumptious food!
[BUGIS, SINGAPORE] With a wide variety of dishes from different provinces, @suhanggourmet do their savoury dishes quite well, at least from the ones I've had.
The Hunan Pepper Stir Fried Pork 🐷 ($22.80) was the perfect rice stealer, due to its garlicky savoury profile. The pepper had a slight sweetness that was inviting too! Give me a plate of this and rice and I'm happy.
The Hand Shredded Cabbage 🥬 ($13.80) was also well executed, as it was crisp yet well flavoured. Not too spicy, it wasn't too salty as well and I can have this on its own!
Thank you @burpple and @suhanggourmet for the invite and food 😁
[JALAN BESAR, SINGAPORE] Everyone, I think I have found another great hidden zichar restaurant in the heart of the Jalan Besar region! Even though this was a tasting, I enjoyed the food alot and I will be back again 😍
If @dynasty_fried_porridge calls themselves this way, their Dynasty Famous Fried Porridge 🍲 ($8.50 for small portion) should be good. True enough, it was very smoky and had a strong umami. It wasn't too salty either, and I appreciated the little bits of yam within that added texture to this dish!
What's even better is their Hong Shao Braised Pork Stir Fried Bee Hoon 🍜 ($11) which was so flavourful. It had a good wok hei, and they managed to not make the noodles soggy! The meat was very tender as well.
For sides, their Prawns Paste Wings 🍗 ($13 for smal portion) was really a great accomplishment. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, I liked how it wasn't too salty and yet delivered the umami we expect from prawn paste. What's even better was their Salted Egg Sotong 🦑, as it was so crispy, and yet the squid within wasn't overcooked! The squid pieces tasted very fresh and didn't seem frozen.
When all dishes are hits, you know their chef really has the skills. I can't wait to bring my friends and family here! Thank you @dynasty_fried_porridge for the invite 😁
[CLARKE QUAY, SINGAPORE] When the waitress genuinely recommended the special chilli that she loves from the restaurant, you know they love the food here too 😍 we had a feast at @juwei.sg and we loved so many of their dishes!
The Pork Knuckle Nasi Lemak 🐷 ($18.90) had such a plethora of small dishes and I loved the crackling of the pork knuckle! It was so crispy and the meat was quite tender, definitely a good complement to the special chilli sauce that you need to ask from them. The chilli wasn't too spicy, and had a good sweet savoury profile.
My next favourite got to be their Pig Trotter Bee Hoon 🐖 ($17.90). I don't usually eat this as it's too rich and oily, but this one is just nice. The broth itself isn't too salty and was very comforting. The trotter was so darn soft 😍
For sides, please do yourself a favour and get the Truffle Salad Youtiao 🥖 ($6.90)! Crispy on the outside and well stuffed with a meat filling, it was so satisfying with the truffle sauce which had a strong aroma!
For dessert, their Durian Chendol 🍧 can't go wrong, especially when you can order the less sweet version. Refreshing!
Thank you so much @juwei.sg for the invite and @foodiecouplecm for joining us! Big yum yum to my tum tum!
[LAVENDER, SINGAPORE] Don't be mistaken by their speciality Coriander Fried Chicken 🍗 ($8.90), as these wholesome pieces were instead marinated with coriander seeds, not leaves. The batter may be slightly too thick in some areas, but it was crunchy and very flavourful. The marinade has penetrated the meat well, and I love how juicy the meat was 😍 each rice set also comes with veggie fritters and tempeh, which were very well fried. Do have their rice with sambal, as not only the former has citrus flavours from the lime leaves, the latter had such a good spicy kick!
You can change out the rice for their indomie ($1.50), and they did it very well as well due to its al dente texture. The other rice set variations were decent as well, especially the Grilled Lamb 🥩 ($9.90) which had little to no odour! But all in all, their coriander fried chicken still appeals to me the most.
This is one food place to visit if you are working nearby!
[JOO CHIAT, SINGAPORE] Among the many Vietnamese stalls along the stretch of road lies @thevietrotisg, where they offer a huge selection of Banh Mi varieties. From grilled chicken to grilled beef to tuna mayo, they have it all! Among the myriad of flavours, I actually enjoyed Truffle Tuna Mayo 🐟 ($7.80) the best! Although the truffle taste was faint, they gave a heaping amount of tuna mayo which was so satisfying with each bite! The bread itself was also so crispy on the outside and fluffy inside 😍
To pair with their Banh Mi, nothing beats having the Signature Vietnamese Drip Coffee ☕ ($4.50 for Iced). It was intense, very aromatic and best of all, you can adjust your sweetness level with the amount of condensed milk you put!
Do consider getting one yourself while you're here in the Katong area!
[BOON KENG, SINGAPORE] Their dim sum just shouts old school flavours! From Fried Yam Cake 🍠 to Beancurd with Mango Salad 🥭, their food items were decent and had a unique nostalgic flavour. One of our favourites definitely has to be their Fried Yam Cake, as it was so addictive with its crispy exterior and fluffy inside.
They also sell crab dishes too! We tried their Chilli Crabs 🦀 and it was pretty fantastic. The meat was fresh and really sweet, and the sauce had a good tang, although it wasn't spicy.
One more place to try out if you're near! Thank you @sg126dimsum for the food and @wantwoeatsg for the invite!
