Had dinner here and the food was superb. It's the local flavors that we're familiar with but done with a twist to really bring out each dish.
We had the Hainanese Pork Chop. It was huge and the cut they used was so juicy and tender. Definitely worth getting if you're looking for a hearty dinner!
We also got the Bao'd, Pork & Satay for sharing. Again, the pork was amazing and equally good. This dish was my favorite as it felt really well thought out. They satay sauce and pickles were balanced perfectly and compliments the pork well, without overpowering it. Highly recommend giving this a try.
Ended off with the Fried Ice Cream and Banana Cake for desserts and it was so unique! The banana cake was served warm with huge chunks of walnuts and the coconut ice cream matched it well.
Overall, the dinner was amazing and we could tell each dish was well thought out. All of the components for each dish matched perfectly and really brought out each other's flavors. It's always heartening to see local flavors being modernized well. We'll definitely be back!
My favourite was the crab carrot cake - fun combination of our traditional carrot cake with pork lards, crab meat, and fragrant chilli oil! Also had the Hainanese pork chop and spaghetti al granchio! The spaghetti al granchio was lovely but packed a punch in spice, so be careful if you are not too good with spice!
We visited Seng House for dinner and had an enjoyable experience. We ordered the Hainanese Pork Chop, Spaghetti al Granchio and Crabmeat Carrot Cake.
The Pork Chop was the highlight, with a thick cut of pork with a crispy crust, while still being moist inside, and the sauce was the right amount of tangy. The Spaghetti was creamy and flavourful, with a spicy kick. And the Carrot Cake was a surprising mix of textures, which went well together. Overall a nice meal and would recommend.
The fish and chips was one of the highlights for me. The grilled lemon gave it a subtle charred citrus flavour that worked really well with the tartar sauce, which tasted fresh and house-made, with visible pickle bits and a lighter, more balanced texture instead of being overly rich. The fries were also very satisfying, served in a generous portion with some potato skin left on, giving them a more rustic, hand-cut feel. Even the peas stood out, small but nicely blanched, with a fresh sweetness and a firm little burst when eaten.
went for dinner on a monday night - was a relaxed, quiet atmosphere, vibey for a date. the pork chop was alright, and the crab carrot cake was delish!
Had a very nice lunch at Seng House along Tanjong Katong. I had the Claypot Chicken Rice, crabmeat carrot cake and durian creme brulle. My favourite was the claypot chicken rice which can easily rival the chatterbox version at a much more affordable price. The rice had a char at the bottom of the claypot which made it extremely tasty ! Crabmeat carrot cake was accompanied by a chilli sauce with zing … yum. Durian creme brulle was also good. Nice place to go for catch up with friends !
