I was really excited to try the Michelin star prawn noodles at Zhup Zhup, and I think it lived up to the hype! Their signature Claypot Prawn Noodles came with succulent prawns served in a bubbling claypot of rich, umami-packed broth. The noodles were served in another bowl of soup with generous portion of vegetables. Overall, the dish may look simple, but the flavours were robust and complemented each other so well. I also ordered the Ngo Hiang Platter ($8++), which was comforting, crispy, and paired really well with their dipping sauces. Price is on the steeper side, but I think it's pretty justifiable for the taste and portions. Overall, it was a satisfying meal especially for someone who loves prawn noodles 🙂
I ordered the prawn and shabu set as well as a ngoh hiang platter. The prawn and shabu set came in a big portion and the soup was very flavorful with a good portion of prawns and shabu. The ngoh hiang platter had a good variety of fish cakes and beancurd with a nice sweet dipping sauce
I guessed it's Michelin for a reason. The soup is full of crustacean umami goodness. Every mouthful is full of subtle flavour tones. This time, I tried the dry kway teow version and I prefer their pao fan version. The crispy prawn cracker goes really well with the soup with the soup being some kind of a dipping broth. It's like dipping butter crackers in milo. I would return again if I am in the same area and I am dying for a bowl of slurping good prawn noodles.
I ordered the dry chilli prawn bee hoon mee. They served the prawns in a clay pot separated from my noodle. I tried the broth and it was thick, flavorful and full of prawn taste. The prawn is big & fresh and firm. Moreover, the shell has been removed from the body parts and made it easy to eat. This place also served other dishes like paofan and Wu Xiang platter. Will come back to try the paofan in future.
A delicious and classic dish! I had our dinner at Zhup Zhup and we ordered the claypot seafood paofan and one prawn & co dry noodles.
The paofan is so savory with a rich and umami flavors from the prawns and lala stock. The piping paofan taste so nice with the egg floss. The prawns and lala are so fresh. The paofan broth is so flavorful with a depth of flavors from the claypot. You can add some cut 🌶️ for an extra kick !
If you are looking for a wholesome and filing meal for any time of the day, you really have to give this paofan a try.
Visited Zhup Zhup with a friend, and we had a really great dining experience. The prawn noodles really stood out; the broth was rich, flavourful, and honestly just mind blowing. The prawns were also really fresh, and the noodles had a nice QQ texture to it.
We also ordered the ngoh hiang and were pleasantly surprised. Super crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The dipping sauce made it perfect for me.
I'll definitely be coming back again!
