Must try – Chilli Crab and Man Tou, US Black Angus Rib Eye Beef, “Heart Attack” Fried Rice, BBQ Kurobuta Pork Ribs, Hokkien Mee
Such a pity b’cos it was our only go-to outlet where the standards were good and consistent. Also enjoyed the laid-back surrounding with the greens beside the carpark building.
Gonna be looking forward to where this shifts to for our favourite Hokkien prawn mee.
As a saying goes, it takes 2 hands to clap and this phrase definitely tell the whole relationship of these pair. Thick slices of US beef was roasted to medium and paired it with New Ubin signature heart attack fried rice. A mouth of slightly chewy beef meat and another mouthful of nice fragance rice added another dimension to the taste. Though, i must say, the fried rice is a tad too oily because of the beef lad.
And we would suggest this outlet b’cos they have never failed us in delivering consistent, delicious dishes.
Their fried garlic prawns are highly recommended. Amazingly cooked so crispy the whole prawn could be eaten with the shell; while the meat inside was still tender.
Besides their steak, the lamb rack remained our must-order for that smokey grilled goodness.
Finally, the fried prawn mee was another of our must-eat at New Ubin, although we had bad experience at the ZhongShan outlet. Nevertheless, we can confidently say that one will not be disappointed here at Hillview’s.
From their dress-down vibes to the corkage-free BYOB policy and refined fusion fare, New Ubin is zi char king. Come prepared to splurge on the US Black Angus Ribeye Steak (from $84 for 600g), which comes with a side of the Heart Attack Fried Rice — cooked in beef fat for extra oomph. Also not to be missed, the smoke-kissed Boss Beehoon ($9).

Ordered the pictured dishes plus the smoked pork omelet (which is just an omelette with bacon) and an iced lemon tea. The bill came up to a whooping $114!!!!
I have to say that all the dishes were very good except the omelette, I didn’t like the bacon on it, had plenty of soft bones and I didn’t think that bacon was a good combination, it tasted more like a breakfast dish.
Service was very good, however, if you’re just looking for your Zi char fix, for this price and quality, there are so many better places to go.
