Herbal soups are known for their numerous health benefits, including boosting the immune system, improving digestion, and providing energy. Tan Ser Seng Herbal soup carried a balanced depth—fragrant without being overpowering, with that earthy sweetness from the herbs that lingers on the palate. It’s the kind of broth that warms you right through.
Next up, the nourishing fish maw soup with two abalones was a luxurious bowl. The fish maw was soft yet springy, soaking up all the rich flavors, while the abalones gave a nice bite of briny sweetness. It felt indulgent but still light enough to enjoy to the last sip.
The chicken soup was exactly as promised: drop-off-the-bone tender. Each piece of chicken practically melted away, and the broth was rich with the essence of slow simmering, simple but deeply satisfying.
But the true star of the table was the ngoh hiang. Crisp on the outside, juicy within, every bite was full of that familiar five-spice aroma. Paired with the glossy sweet sauce, it was addictive—so much so that it overshadowed even the hearty soups.

For a soup lover like myself, this restaurant hit the spot! We ordered the Cordycep Chicken and Fish Maw soups, which were packed with herbal flavour. We initially ate the soups together with the yam rice, but realised that the rice was seriously underrated as a standalone dish, especially when paired with the chilli sauce.

The side dishes were impressive as well, and shows how well-rounded this restaurant is. The Jade Tofu was silky smooth with a crispy crust, while the Omelette was fluffy without being too oily, and topped with fragrant pickled radish.

Overall, a great choice for those looking for their herbal soup fix!

I dropped by Tan Ser Seng Herbal Soup for weekend lunch and it was packed with both locals and tourists. Every table had their signature dishes like the radish omelette, prawn rolls, jade tofu, and of course the herbal soups. I tried the cordyceps flower kampung chicken soup and loved how the broth was rich and smooth without being too heavy. The chicken was tender and fell right off the bone, and the jade tofu was crispy outside, soft inside, and great with the sweet-spicy sauce. It is a must-go place for nourishing soups and nostalgia flavours of home-cooked meals.

This place was amazing! I got the white chicken and fish maw soups and they were so delicious. The fish maw soup was so rich and tasty, and the chicken was basically fall off the bone.

Besides the soups, the side dishes were amazing as well. I really recommend getting the prawn roll.

Also, the service here was really good. The staff were so attentive, and they gave us a free refill of the fish maw soup.

I’ll definitely want to come back here again! (Esp since it’s so convenient and near Aljunied MRT)

Ordered a couple of dishes but my favourite was the Collagen Fish Maw Soup — rich & flavourful with tender fish maw and abalone (plus 1x refill!! 🤤). Loved the Prawn Roll as well!! Crispy outside with juicy filling and whole prawns inside.

Finished every last drop of the hearty soup. Really energised me after a long day of work and chicken is sooooo tender!
