Enjoy a range of authentic Peranakan bites as part of their all-day tea sets. The set came with petit portions of each items but the extensive spread was filling. The items were generally decent.

Started with a choice of dry laksa or mee siam. Preferred the latter for its punchy sweet-savory-spicy sauce (a little too flavourful actually), while the former was somewhat bland.

๐Ÿฌ Durian Pengat, Durian Apom Balek, Kueh Bingka, Nyonya Kueh, Pulot Enti ๐Ÿญ

Our favourite was the durian pengat which was really gao but just a tad sweet. The rest were alright. Ended with chendol that was pretty generous with ingredients for the portion (albeit the shaved ice was quite chunky and rough), and a comforting, warm cup of lemongrass tea.

We liked the kongbak bao which had a crisp and fluffy fried mantou stuffed with pork belly marinated with rendang-like sauce, as well as the heritage rice salad with its aromatic infusion of 7 types of herbs and crispy salted fish.

Discovered via Burpple Beyond, enjoyed their hearty and authentic Peranakan fare (even more so with 1-1 mains!)

Ayam buah keluak ($24) - the buah keluak pieces were pretty big and stewed well but the sauce lacked depth. Chicken could have been more tender

Overall โญ๏ธ 3.5/5 โญ๏ธ
๐ŸดBlue Ginger opened their second outlet at Great World City and we thought to give it a try since there was 1-1 burpple vouchers (applicable for vegetables, meats, and starters). Overall, we thought that the dishes were a little oily and all the meats (chicken, pork, beef) were quite tough and chewy, but the sauces were decently good. Dark horse of the meal was the free flow tangy achar!

If we had to rank the proteins, we would say: first, the babi pongtay with its savoury yet slightly sweet and overall moreish sauce. Second, the buah keluak pieces were pretty big and stewed well, although the sauce lacked depth. The beef rendang was the least impressive - the sauce was quite lemak, particularly oily, and could do with punchier spices for added complexity.

The chap chye was soft and flavoursome enough - pretty good rendition as a compliment to the other dishes.
