Fusion Western & Char-Grills
The smoked angus short rib was incredibly delicious. The meat effortless tore off from the bone and it was tender with a nice smokiness to it. Absolutely flavourful.
Grilled perfectly and well seasoned that each rib was bursting with flavour and juicy.
Thia hefty choice cut got blowtorched in front of us for a fiery visual treat. Consisting of two different cuts, the tenderloin was most tender with nice amount of fat for a "buttery" flavour, while the strip had a firmer texture and more robust beef flavour.
The meat was charred to a nice medium rare and served with house salad, beetroot puree, truffle mustard and sea salt. It was tender, slightly chewy, juicy and boasted a strong beefy taste. The natural sweetness of the beetroot puree helped to balance the meatiness.
This Potato Gratin deserves a special shoutout. I don't think I've ever had a potato gratin that made me and everyone on the table exclaimed "Oh WOW!". This unassuming dish was simply impressive and oh-so-delicious that we wanted to order seconds. The thin layers of potato were distinct and loaded with flavour from the nutmeg, rosemary and garlic with a nice crisp on top.
Bursting with rich meaty flavour, the Wagyu Beef Bourguignon was a hearty stew of beef cheek chunks with carrots, mushrooms and creamy mash potato, accompanied with baguette slices. The beef was meltingly fork tender and the carrots were sweet and savoury from absorbing the flavours of the stew. And the mash potato with the robust savoury sauce hit a delicious spot that we couldn't get enough of.
It's your cheat day and looking for a simple indulgent lunch? This Cheat Burger will utterly satisfy you. Sandwiched between toasted fluffy brioche buns, the patty was juicy, flavourful and so satisfying.
The Feather Blade Steak features tender slices of flat iron cut obtained from the shoulder blade, and presented on a wooden board. My medium steak was nicely charred, tender and juicy. As it was lightly seasoned, a dip of the rich, buttery bearnaise sauce complemented well with the meat's savouriness
A British comfort classic, the Cottage Pie had a savoury beef mince filling and topped with a layer of buttery mashed potato that served as a crust. It was a hearty one pot dish with a depth of flavours. Though I could do without the peas. 🤣
The Sharing Platter ($49.90) comes with a premium knuckle beef, chicken katsu, 2 side dishes of choice, chawanmushi, sake-steamed clama and 2 iced green tea. The knuckle steak was perfectly cooked to our choice of medium-rare with a nice char. Though it retained its juiciness, it was slightly tough and the taste was not so memorable. It was lacking the flavour of a mixture of fat and beefy unami-ness. I think perhaps it's the choice of cut as I usually go for ribeye.
These succulent slices of hanging tenders (180gm/$24) were seared to a nice crust with a pink inside; and what you get is a charred, robust and meaty flavour out of it. I ended up enjoying it without the accompanying sauce of choice as just the sprinkle of salt would do. The prawns with beurre blanc sauce ($20) is definitely a hit with seafood lovers. The tiger prawns were springy, fresh and smoky from the chargrilled; and the sauce gave it a tinge of zesty-ness.
As starters, we had the Red Skin Potato Salad, Charred Broccoli and the Charred Shishito Peppers (seasonal specials). A signature favourite was the potato salad that felt like a Japanese dish made up of chunky potatoes served with a six-minute egg, shallots and tobiko. Tossed in mentaiko mayo, each mouthfeel was soft, crunchy, creamy and savoury that it made me reaching out for more.
