Very Old school chicken rice stall, instantly felt I was transported back to the 90s.
Located at Old quiet neighbourhood at Jalan Rumah Tinggi.
Chicken rice here is rather good. The sauce is not very flavourful, but the chicken was fresh and tender. Rice was damn flavourful
This chicken rice stall is located in a very rustic HDB shop in Bukit Merah area, just like those from my childhood days. Uncle took my order for drumstick chicken rice and goes off to prepare. It was 11.30am, and there was no other customer, perhaps ahead of the long queues for lunch. Out of the blue, Uncle reminded me that they are open from 9am to 3pm.
The chicken was super tender and the rice was fluffy. Both went well with the chilli sauce. On its own, the chilli sauce looked watery. After adding the puréed ginger sauce and dark soya sauce, it suddenly because the best combination with the chicken rice. Very old school Hainanese Chicken Rice.
At $5.00, this is the cheapest drumstick chicken rice I have had in a long time. But be warned. Unless you are driving, the shop is quite a walk uphill on top of Jalan Rumah Tinggi.
Located in this super quiet neighbourhood, either taking 63 to the final stop at Bukit Merah or walking a distance to reach here.
It really feel like coming to a different era of Singapore as this housing area look pretty off from the world.
Here, those old time locals would frequently visit this small chicken rice shop for their affordable chicken rice, starting from just $2.
For $5 premium size, it comes with thighs. I came on weekend late lunch and I’m glad I was the last customer they serve for the day.
The service could be very slow, as only the old couple managing the shop. So do be patient to wait for your turn. They are very kind actually, as they keep saying thank you to me for stoping more customer coming for their foods, as they already sold out.
I really like their $5 portion, the thigh was juicy and the rice was fragrant as well.
Super slow owners in a sleepy estate. Then when I put the rice in my mouth, my blood boiled. Like white rice. The bird was okay. I appreciated the ginger. Ignore the soup.
The firm chicken is juicy, very tender and smooth. The chicken is topped with a slight drizzle of sesame oil and soy sauce.
