A simple and heartwarming bowl of glutinous rice balls dessert soup on this winter solstice to symbolise family reunion that coincides with my dad’s birthday. And there’s nothing more important than embracing my family on this special day.
Cheers to this memorable year with its ups and downs & also moments of joy and sadness.

City pot serves affordable hot pot sets that come in both individual and sharing pots. Went for the super value set meal that was enough for 2 pax. And because I was craving for something comforting and spicy so I went for their laksa broth. While expectedly the laksa broth is not as good as what you’d get in hawker centres, I thought that how the laksa broth was done for the purposes of a steamboat was decently right. The texture was on the thinner side while still slightly creamy with a bit of spice. If you don’t think it’s spicy enough, you can add chilli from the condiments section for the added punch. A good option for people who like to have their own mini pots, while still sharing a platter of meat for your friends!

Craving some hotpot on a rainy day? If you’re after a comforting and wholesome meal, head down to City Hot Pot’s Jurong outlet and indulge in their Wagyu Ribeye Set ($49.99). The set comes with your choice of soup, a staple, along with various vegetables and soy products.
Price per pax was around $40, on a pricey side. Waygu Beef is good and the mala soup is good too but have to order the less spicy one as the normal spicy is really spicy. I love the braised pork rice. Fish soup with milk isn’t that great. Have to queue for 30mins at least but worth it as there are no hot pot places at Jurong Point.
Yay! Got my hotpot fix from City Hot Pot today. Craving for it after spending a day with students packing assorted hot pot vegetables.
Opted for Set B which came with lots and lots of ingredients — wagyu chuck eye roll, pork collar, fresh fish fillet, fresh prawn [what a thoughtful gesture to deshell before serving], prawn paste, crab stick [swopped with beancurd skin instead], handmade tofu, cockles, liver, vegetable combo, mushroom combo and staple served with a range of dipping sauces and condiments.
❤️ both the freshly prepared meat and fresh seafood in hearty portion; and the individual pot which allows everyone to get the soup base that they like!
I chose Teochew fish soup from their 14 different types of soup base which was robust and flavoursome even on its own.
