Latest food hybrid obsession: Sushi Tacos 🍣 🌮. Because why choose between your two favorite cuisines when you can just have both at the same time 😋. It's a flavourful combination of sweet, savoury and spicy (from adding wasabi) that's going to blow your brains. So good. 💕

The Barramundi (recommended by the waiter from their list of available fish) was exceptional, with a light, wonderfully grease-free beer batter 🍺. Chips were chunky and perfectly seasoned whilst the mushy peas were a treat, providing more than just a splash of colour on the plate 💚. 😋😋😋

This traditional Portuguese fish dish was a combination of solid ingredients including Norwegian dry-salted cod, tomatoes, onions and potatoes cooked and served in its resultant flavourful and well-seasoned gravy 😋😋.

The omelette is deep-fried till golden brown perfection, crisp around the edges with a light coating of gooey + crispy starch for an additional layer of texture 💕. Despite the excessive frying, the oysters still retained a moist and juicy interior, bursting upon each bite. A side of spicy chilli sauce will be provided on the side for those who want it a little spicier (Penang style). 😋😋😋

After almost a week of Penang street food, the plan was to have some healthy greens for lunch 🥗. Then this happened: lightly floured and deep fried to golden soft shell crab, Japanese style half boiled eggs, a generous helping of crispy beef bacon and crisp pieces of well-seasoned croutons nestled atop a crunchy bed of romaine lettuce and semi-dried tomatoes. I’d be ok if all salads of the world were like this 💕. 😋😋

You are presented with a little mountain of fresh mango slivers balanced atop glistening chicken pieces full of crunchy ripples 💕. As you dig in, the crust cracks audibly and reveals juicy chicken that is as flavorful as that irresistible crust. Certainly an appetizing dish that will satisfy your tastebuds when you are in the mood for something light and tangy 😋😋.

A trip to Penang is not complete without having a piping hot bowl of Penang White Curry Mee 💕. A bowl of curry mee typically consists of yellow noodles and rice vermicelli with the addition of fried bean curd, cockles, prawns, cuttlefish, cubes of pig's blood and bean sprouts. That darkish red paste is made by blending dried red chillies, garlic and shallots, then slowly fried in oil until fragrant. It acts as a catalyst to provide a spicy ‘kick’ and bring out the flavours of the curry broth 😋.

I have finally found a place for good Cantonese roasted meats in Penang! 💕 Char Siew: The deliciously sticky, sweet and savoury pork belly with its nice ratio of fat and lean meat is a must try. The pork belly was perfectly barbecued until tender with a glistening caramelized exterior 😋😋😋. Siu Yuk: Melt-in-the-mouth tender and juicy with a perfect, crispy crackling 😋.

Served warm, the shortcrust pastry is buttery and crumbly, delicately encasing a creamy and smooth egg custard filling, generously doused with a layer of decadent bird’s nest to balance the sweetness of the tart. Be careful lifting the tart from the plate as the bird’s nest is likely to spillover. It looks like this vintage cafe offering various bird’s nest desserts will now be a staple for my Penang visits 😍. 😋😋

A warm bowl of anything with pink in it, instantly becomes instagrammable for me 💕. The pink bits are sliced aromatic ginger flower (bunga kantan) by the way 🌸. It helps infuse the harmonious combination of sweet yet sour and savoury flavour of the assam fish broth and chewy laksa noodles served alongside He Ko (shrimp paste) especially for that bona fide Penang assam laksa experience 😋😋😋. Every mouthful is a generous flourish of fish meat, shredded lettuce, mint, pineapple and cucumber. Diet Tip: you can order the soup with all the laksa ingredients sans the noodles for a carb-free option. You’re welcome 😘

It was buttery, melt-in-your-mouth awesome. Don’t forget to have a quick pop by to the Flower Dome upstairs since entry is already covered by your meal. 😋😋😋

Don’t be fooled by the simple no-frills look of the restaurant: The thick-cut chops were grilled perfectly with the meat medium-rare, well-marinated and just the right crust 😋😋. As you can see, I got greedy with the foie gras and ordered two of them (with no regrets). Both were rich, buttery and delicate. I’m looking forward to returning for their brunch menu - I saw deep-fried Camembert on it! 😍
