Would you pay $45 for a bowl of laksa? This lobster laksa is from Perch and after a year (yes, a whole year) of deliberation, I finally got it. It’s really very good — gravy wasn’t too heavy. Ingredients were fresh and noodles were Al dente. And I love how it comes with a giant lobster. But $45 is unfortunately a bit too steep for me. Would I repurchase? I’m not sure. But in general the food at Perch has never disappointed me and I’ll be back!
Treated myself to this gorgeous stuffed squid from Opio Kitchen & Bar. It comes packed with a generous amount of barley risotto and when you cut the squid open, this just sensually oozes out. Beautiful. Risotto was excellent and what impressed me even more was the texture of the squid itself. It’s a genius combination and I’m now curious to see how the rest of their risotto dishes fare
Tried out the nosh at Paul Cafe the other day. Didn’t realise that they sold mains and breakfast items apart from their usual bakes! Had the cod fish and was pretty impressed — cod was fork-tender and melted away in our mouths. Also like the cream sauce it was paired with which really complemented the buttery texture of the fish. Ambience was pretty nice too, super chill vibes.
Just found out that Plain Vanilla sells mains too! We got to mix and match our choice of pork chops and quiche with refreshing salad sides for an extremely hearty and healthy meal. Prices are also surprisingly wallet-friendly, especially for the serving size, so we would gladly dine here again!
Tried out the recently opened FuFu Pot and unpopular opinion: it’s not really worth the hype. The food was decent but we found it to be on the pricier side. Ingredients felt rather cheap and the soup broths weren’t anything to shout about. The White Curry broth was especially disappointing and tasted more like watered-down laksa than curry. However, we wouldn’t mind coming back to try the tomato broth which seems to be one of the more popular options.
Finally tried the boat noodle place at Otto! Really feels like you’re in Bangkok. Each bowl here costs just 80 cents which is really cheap! Good place to chill with friends till late.
This was marked as Foodking good. Was okay lah, quite addictive. But more chilli bits than chicken.
My go-to place besides Reiwa Soba. The noodles here are damn chewy. Not sure if it’s made with 100% buckwheat like Reiwa but it’s still hella good. I recommend the eel one.
First time trying victors kitchen and damn I’m impressed.
Not bad, better than Swee Choon.

This was good but the siew mai isn’t really queen sized lah. But still good.

The name for this is damn drama but I rlly think they use king prawns sia. Freaking juicy and big. Damn good. It’s $5.50 tho, pretty pricey.

This was rlly good but the skin was a little thick for my liking. Was $5.20 per basket of 3, a little pricey tho.
