Finally tried the boat noodle place at Otto! Really feels like you’re in Bangkok. Each bowl here costs just 80 cents which is really cheap! Good place to chill with friends till late.
While it’s a pretty ulu destination for Thai food, their food is not bad and is pretty authentic. Thai Green Curry had a good amount of spice to it and was very creamy; just the way we like it. The stir fried pork, while a tad bit too dry for our liking, had a lovely marinade that brought out the natural flavours of the pork. The Thai fried omelette good, albeit oily, but that’s expected for Thai omelette. Pineapple rice was all right, nothing much stood out about it but it was a decent place of it. Tuk Wan Kitchen is a good option for Thai food but if I were really really craving for Thai food and need it stat, it won’t be my first option due to the location.
Frequent foodie travellers to Bangkok would probably have come across the famous Go-Ang Pratunam Chicken Rice. The Michelin Guide awardee has been dishing out plates of chicken rice which are the very definition of Thai chicken rice, and the outlets in Bangkok never fail to have perpetually long queues. Have eaten at the original stall in Bangkok multiple times and I must say, the chicken rice there is significantly different from Singapore’s favourite Hainanese Chicken Rice. For one, the chicken meat in Thai chicken rice is much drier, less moist and not as tender, not something Singaporeans are used to. The rice, while fragrant, is less greasy, which is not something a lot of people may appreciate when it comes to chicken rice. However, what makes up for it are the accompanying sauces which really help pack plenty of punch and flavour to the dish. My initial expectation before trying out the chicken rice in their Singapore outlet was that the chicken would be dry. To my surprise, while the flavour profile was similar to that of Thai chicken, the chicken was slightly more moist and juicy. The rice was pretty much the same as the Thai outlets rice. Also sampled their omelette which if I’m not wrong, is not available in their Thai outlets and it was pretty damn good. Will defo be back and I highly recommend it if you’re sorely missing Thailand like I am.
For unpretentious, pretty legit Thai food, Took Lae Dee is a good place to check out.
They have an extensive menu with plenty of options for you to choose from. Their Basil Pork Rice is pretty solid! You can also check out their lunch promotions during your lunch break.

One of the most painful things about not being able to travel to Thailand now is that we can’t sink our teeth into some authentic Thai food! Thank God Leng Saap at Golden Mike exists, we miss it so much.
This popular Thai dish that is sold mainly at Bangkok’s Rot Fai Train Markets featured a gargantuan pile of pork spine doused in a tangy, spicy and zesty sauce that’ll leave your noses dripping and your eyes watering. You can get yourself this mountain of tender, succulent pork spine at Golden Mile Tower. Prepare multiple glasses of water when eating this; you’ll need it!
