Was craving for pasta so decided to pop by here. Got the Tempura Mentaiko Pasta. Usual price is $18 but with Burpple Beyond, it is really worth it. The pasta was creamy and the portion is just right so it won’t get too jelak. Fish was also crispy on the outside, but the meat is a bit tough, can be more tender! Atmosphere is great and the staff were very very friendly. Will definitely come back again.

On leisurely weekends, round the gal pals up for afternoon tea at this relaxing lounge-cafe located in Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel. Order the English Afternoon Tea Set ($38) that includes assorted sandwiches, tea cakes, macarons, flaky pastries, chocolate pralines and the community-favourite buttery and warm raisin scones served with a side of cream, butter and assorted jams. Wash that down with a cup of tea or coffee of your choice!

This rice in soup dish is the first one I’ve had in this style and boy did it impress! Perfect harmonious blend of flavours and fresh (and generous) serving of ingredients. Yuzu wasn’t too overpowering. Thumbs up.

Babasan is a place that’s great for groups and they also have really good prices/deals on alcohol. Highly recommend checking it out!

The butter melted quickly, taste of the garlic was strong. Beef was tender and portion was generous. The egg, beef and garlic butter compliment each other well. Worth the 1 for 1.

I savoured every bite of this steak, still juicy and paired very well with the melted butter (although its slightly more than medium rare). It also comes with a generous portion of truffle fries, which scent is on the lighter side. The steak is memorable, though i would also wish for its fats to be more melt-in-your-mouth kind of tender. Most of the menu is western/indian/middle eastern fusion.

($28) came here on labour's day eve, hence didnt get to enjoy the 1-for-1. Nevertheless, we left with happy bellies!

PRICE:
$4.80/5.80 - Our $5.80 portions include 5 boiled wantons
[ONLY $2.90 EACH AFTER BURRPLE BEYOND]
$1.70 Cucumber Lemonade
No GST/Service Charge

WAITING TIME: About 5 minutes on a weekday at 6pm

REMARKS:
- What differentiates this from the two Eng's shops, is that they provide a jar of fried garlic that we can help ourselves to. LOVE IT.
- Noodles is the same type as the two Eng's
- Charsiew is torched just before serving, hence the slightly charred edges
- Soup is very flavourful
- Chilli is not very hot. Makes the noodles salty after I added two spoonfuls of chilli in.
- Cucumber lemonade is nice
- Air-conditioned

WILL WE RETURN? Yes, to utilise the 3 remaining Burpple Beyond Deals

As the name suggests, this plate of Nasi Goreng indeed has the “power”. With the right amount of “kick” from the sambal and the creaminess of the sous vide egg, it sure satisfied my craving for a good plate of local fried rice. Price point of $8.90, I will definitely be back for more!

Tucked away in the basement of Hong Leong Building, this donburi joint is ideal for quick after-work dinners with your colleagues. The Gyu Don 2.0 ($20.90) features succulent, medium rare USDA Prime Roast Beef with served with garlic chips and savoury kombu butter for extra oomph. Otherwise, the Salmon Cha Soba ($22.90), featuring teriyaki-glazed salmon topped with a wobbly onsen egg and ikura is a great alternative.

Taking over now-defunct Sugarhaus is this cafe that's perfect for lazy weekends. Grab your lunch buddies and feast on the Wagyu Beef Cheek Rendang ($22) – think tender wagyu beef smothered in delicious rempah, pickled vegetables and a runny egg on top of fragrant butterfly pea coconut rice (free flow!). The Grilled Halloumi is a good vegetarian option, topped with charred scallions, baby corn and drizzled with tahini aioli.

Using the Burpple 1-for-1 deal on this meant that these two pies + drinks cost us $13.50 in total. The S’Mores pie was nice and ‘gao’, a pretty clean chocolate flavour. It was good but when put next to Camp Symmetry, it paled in comparison. Camp Symmetry had truffle infused into the cookie, and though initially apprehensive, it turned out to be such a hit. There was a complexity to the flavours that complimented each other perfectly. I never thought I would miss truffle in a dessert, but this has got me wanting more.

Their full breakfast ($25++) was really good - truffled scrambled eggs, sourdough toast, sausage, prosciutto ham, mushrooms, baked beans, greens and a slice of halloumi cheese which was excellently pan fried. Their chicken with egg whites and avocado was a little less exciting and bland at $24++. Used Burpple Beyond for this and paid $32 instead of the full price of $57 which is really steep.

They also charge service charge & GST on the free main so do take note of that.

Overall, I’ll only visit again with my BB membership.

Well, maybe not really a secret since half the time I’m posting about sweets.

Arrays of these beautiful macarons that are just begging to eat, greet us when we push open the door to @the_m_plot. But big macarons caught our attention with flavours like Raspberry Lychee Rose & Chocolate Hazelnut Praline.

The light floral fragrance from rose and lychee infused ganache complements the tangy raspberries! Raspberry Lychee Rose was a harmonious marriage of decadent flavour but Chocolate Hazelnut Praline was pretty well-balanced too.

P.S: we managed to save with #burpplebeyond. Two big macarons along with two pot of hot tea at $13.50, it’s a super great deal! Check out my previous post to join in the giveaway for Burpple Beyond annual membership~
