My trip to Hong Kong this time managed to squeeze out a day to take the boat ride to Macao.
Taking the first boat out from Central with TurboJet, I reached Macao early morning to grab my breakfast from this local porridge shop called the 盛記白粥.
They have a few outlets and I went to their main outlet. Very local type of shop serving decent porridge, fried items and other breakfast foods.

This is not your usual Hong Kong trip itinerary. Beside the buzzing city area, do you know that Hong Kong also has some beautiful islands around that worth exploring?
Well my trip to Sai Kung continue by taking a boat to this island called the High Island 糧船灣洲. It used to have some villages around here but now it only left with a few people still living here.
There’s this seafood restaurant on this island that quite popular for their seafood. Which many Hong Kongers would get a boat to come here for their meal.
High Island (Yau Ley) Seafood Restaurant 糧船灣有利海鮮漁村 has started their business here since 1999. As I was here alone, so I can only go with something that I can enjoy; which is their seafood fried rice. Fried with shrimp and other ingredients.
For my Hong Kong trip this time, I decided to venture out from the buzzing city area to this quiet neighbourhood. Sai Kung is not connected by any train station, which you need to take the minibus or public bus from nearest MRT station, which would usually take about 1 hour to reach here.
Yet it doesn’t stop many Hong Kong people to come here for sweet escape over the weekend.
There’s so many things to explore and enjoy here, so my first meal at this town is my breakfast with some porridge from this place called the 金山粥店.
One thing interesting about this shop is that they located at the older estate which can only reach by going around the narrow street in between houses. But with Google Maps, it should be able to navigate easily.
Love this small porridge shop vibe here selling different types of porridges. Their youtiao and rice roll are also popular among the locals.
If you are walking around Mong Kok, then make sure you make your way to those dessert kiosk for their soufflé pancake!
Although the shop is located off the main street at a hidden corner of the commercial building behind, yet you still find lots of people would find their way here to grab their soufflé pancake.
am.pm is a popular dessert place that open from late afternoon till night, where you see people standing around the shop holding a box of their soufflé pancake to enjoy.
Their signature item would be this creme brûlée set that comes with their soufflé pancake with caramel enhanced, accompanied with the vanilla soft serve at the side.
My Cup of Tea is one popular shop located at Wan Chai for their milk tea, which you could catch the action of making at the front of the shop.
Besides serving really good milk tea, they also served lots of Hong Kong foods here as well.
It was my afternoon tea time, so decided to go with their sandwich item instead. Their scrambled egg with truffle is so tasty and nice with the sandwich.
For those been to Hong Kong long time ago may familiar with their Central Market at Central, which closed down few years back for rejuvenate.
It has since reopened with a more clean, modern look and air-conditioned now. You can find different stalls and restaurants here under one roof.
I decided to grab my lunch here from this red called the Gu Liang Cai, popular for their Chiu Chow foods.
They offer valuable individual lunch menu including this rice set that you can choose to complete it with 2 or 3 marinated meats.
There’s goose, chicken and beef to choose from. Since I’m in Hong Kong, then I shouldn’t miss the chance to get a taste on their goose meat.
Another one is the steamed chicken.
Since you already here, then you shouldn’t left without trying their signature steamed milk pudding. It tastes sweet and tasty. You can go with either hot or cold.
Every tourists coming to Hong Kong should be very familiar with this shop, a well-known Hong Kong cha chang teng that most people would visit at least once.
Thankfully there wasn’t any queue when I came late afternoon on weekday. Managed to find myself a seat immediately.
Since this is my afternoon tea time, so I grabbed their scrambled egg sandwich. Fluffy with crispy texture of the bread. Do note that for them to toast the bread will required additional charge.
Saw this ramen place nearby where I’m staying in Hong Kong and realised it is also one of the famous local ramen places you can find in the city.
Ramen Wonyi served pretty simplify menu with only a few options to choose from, specialise on their chicken broth.
Perhaps it is the presentation of their food that attracted me also. Looking at the pleasant colour combination of everything on the bowl, that would bring out my appetite to enjoy it.
One of the popular Hong Kong restaurants you can find in Hong Kong, with this located at Mong Kok.
I was staying nearby, so decided to grab my early breakfast here. They offered breakfast sets that you can choose from.
I went for their soup instant noodles with satay beef, a very common breakfast you can find in Hong Kong. Paired together with a cup of milk tea.
Now back to the authentic Hong Kong food from Mon Kee Cafe, which has a few outlets across the city.
I came for their lunch menu which has this popular scrambled egg rice. You can get the scrambled egg rice with char siew or shrimp, or both together.
Super love the fluffy scrambled egg pairing with their char siew, which has added with soy sauce.
Now going to try one of the famous local ramen chain in Hong Kong, Ramen Taifu 台風 has a few outlets and it is usually packed during peak period of the day.
Very popular among the youngsters when they are looking for decent ramen in Hong Kong.
Their ramen broth used seafood ingredients to create this decent taste, going well with all chashu, egg and others inside the bowl.
I was very hungry after waking around Hong Kong, so decided to go extra to fill my tummy. The portion you see here is the top up of everything to get extra pieces for each of the ingredients.
