$5 per portion. The outer skin was so crispy and internal so chewy! Usually I finished one portion on my own (Sorry but it's not for sharing π ) β’ Stall 01-112 ζ°δΈζΉ β’

Big and generous serving of grilled fish with 2 sides, just less than $10, an affordable version of Astons. Must try!!
FIX offers set lunch menu, each set costs only $12.90 and it comes with a scoop of ice cream of your choice (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry). Additional $3.90 will get you a bowl of mushroom soup with garlic bread and a drink (Lemongrass Tea or Earl Grey Lemon Tea).
I underestimated how filling this could be. Each layer of this lasagne is packed with cheese, minced beef and its light tomato sauce. The veggies on the side added colours and some crunchy elements to the dish. I was happy that it didn't make me feel jelak but I guess this is not for those who love strong flavours.
Tucked away in an office compound along Alexandra Road, Portico makes up for its slightly out of the way location with fine-dining-worthy dishes at very reasonable prices β perfect for impressing a first date without breaking the bank! On a cool night, sit alfresco to enjoy the lush garden setting, and get to know each other over the moreish Truffle Fries ($15), a crowd favourite that is generous with both the shaved truffles and parmesan. If you prefer something lighter, go for the Salad of Vine-Ripened Tomatoes ($17) β the sweet and tart tomatoes pair beautifully with sliced Serrano ham, quinoa and a honey-melon dressing. This should whet your appetite for the Braised Beef Cheek ($32), cooked till fork tender in mulled wine and served atop buttery mash, as well as the Pan-Seared Pulau Ubin Sea Bass ($28), a classic but no less tasty pairing of fresh fish with roasted potatoes. Donβt leave without tasting the Deconstructed Blackforest ($15), a garden-inspired chocolate and berry dessert that packs lots of texture and flavour in every mouthful.
Ambience: Cosy and charming
Price: Avg $100 per couple, without drinks
Of course other dishes weren't too shabby, but this shone amongst them all. Their Deconstructed Blackforest - 70% dark chocolate mousse, edible hazelnut soil, cherry coulis, salted caramel ice cream - was a mindblowing surprise. The mousse was rich and intense; cherry coulis was mildly sweet and very slightly spiked; and the salted caramel ice cream - best shit eva. We don't even like the flavours in a classic blackforest; that we enjoyed this tremendously says a lot.
Ok now.
If you're wondering where to head to for brunch, do consider @bochinchesg's weekend brunch menu!
This is the smoked salmon (SLABS of them) with scrambled eggs, served with grilled peppers and sea black pudding ($26++)! It's same same but different, with an added Argentinian twist to their offerings!

My emotions are like this stretchy Provoleta cheese.
This was seriously the best cheese dish I've ever had in my entire life though. THAT OREGANO HONEY AND ALMONDS WITHIN THE ARGENTINIAN CHEESE DISH, paired together with that box of soft, fluffy breads!
Explodingbelly can bet her name on it that you'd like it.
Okay, so this is a place that's not an option if you're with friends who are on a budget. While the price point is definitely not friendly, the uber tasty burgers, sides, killer cocktails, spiked milkshakes, and lovely ambience here will more than make up for it. Do everyone a favour, and order a side (or two) of Naughty Fries ($9), hand-cut chips nestled beneath a spicy bearnaise sauce, beef chilli and parmesan. For burgers, The Baby Huey ($20) is a crowd-pleaser with a 150g beef patty slathered in 'TOM' sauce and miso mayo. Also good is the Honky Tonk ($19), a crisp, juicy buttermilk fried chicken burger with coleslaw, lettuce, pickles and their Big Poppa βhot sauceβ. Special mention goes to their cozy, intimate rooftop bar, THE place you'll want to kick back with friends over cocktails on a Friday evening. Note that they don't take reservations for The Rooftop, so head down early if you're in a big group.
I can't go on a day without meat. To start off my day of shopping, I need my energy food - BEEF! For $12, I found the beef fillet reasonably tasty. Slightly on the chewy side but retaining the juicy and little red of the beef. Not bad, which explains why we ordered 2 plates. π
Yes yes, I know Koh Grill is famous for their Shiok Maki (Gen. 1 and 2). But looking at how the Shiok Makis are being prepared now, I'd rather order other makis.
I'd strongly recommend Foie Gras Maki with Swordfish ($28). But this time I found my number 2 fave maki - Kazan Maki. Tuna is wrapped on the outside with asparagus and mekajiki inside. Lovely light taste with the additional savory and creamy sauce all over the maki to enhance the whole explosive eating experience in my mouth. No wonder it is called kazan (volcano in Japanese).
FYI: The Shiok Makis were all prepped on plates placed in line, waiting for Chef Patrick to torch and drench the sauce on them. Every plate was sitting on the counter for about 5-8 minutes before getting torched. Perhaps this explains why some people found the Shiok Maki tasting not as shiok as before.
Shiok!!! Maki ($16.80)
