Here & There is a great place for after-work drinks and bar grub. This contemporary kushiyaki bar in Chijmes serves up small plates of perfectly grilled meat and vegetable skewers, as well as a selection of modern Asian restaurant food. Signature items on the menu include skewers of wagyu steak ($9), foie gras & wagyu ($12), spicy garlic miso pork belly ($7), and parma ham, quail egg & asparagus ($7). Tuesdays are Shuck & Suck nights, where oysters air flown from France go at only $2 each! Be sure to make reservations to avoid disappointment.

Had always loved OZ's Iced Thai Coffee because it has a more neutral flavour profile; good during days where I just don't want to drink something too strong. Kinda missed OZ's presentation of this item though; coffee in glass jars always looked better than in plastic cups ...

Newly opened in Lorong Kilat is Revelry, a chill and casual cafe specialising in savoury waffles. Tired of the usual ice cream pairings with waffles? Then this is just the place for you! Menu items include waffles topped with crispy fried chicken, eggs royale & smoked salmon, prawn & cheese, and even otah & kai lan. They also offer a selection of cheesecakes cakes supplied by Cat and The Fiddle and serve coffee made with Allpress Espresso blends.

Two of my favourite things on one plate 😍😍😍. Only $5 during their happy hour!

This time around we ordered the chilli crab. So far we had the creamy crab as well as salted egg crab. Salted egg crab is currently the family favourite.

This really hip-looking cafe shows no trace of its past; probably the only thing that is obvious was the signboard that is retained from the previous tenant. It takes over an old coffeeshop that had started here ever since the estate was around, which also used to house a rather famed Prawn Noodle stall in here. Other items such as the artwork in the cafe featuring old calendars and a weighing scale in its toilet also gives a nod to the past. Despite so, the menu is rather western, featuring salads, all-day brunch and desserts as well as coffee made using the Throwback blend by Papa Pahelta. Go for the waffles if you are here; the Buttermilk is fragrant at its best even though its not even stated in the menu, and for those interested in savoury waffles they also serve them with Fried Chicken, which is also one of their specialties.

THE best duck confit in Singapore. Seriously, save x3 the money you'd spend at Saveur or Immanuel's Kitchen and splurge it on this. It's so huge it's got twice the amount the flesh on the skinny duck legs that said budget French eateries serve, a layer of fat rendered just right, and a thin, crispy skin that simply hits the spot. The juicy, tender meat also reeks of the fowl's distinctive taste, instead of mere saltiness that many dried out, overcooked confit de canard oversell as "flavour".

There's really a lot of cafés opening around Singapore lately, but Whisk & Paddle seemed to have that vibe that I had been looking for. Spacious, cozy with full view of a reservoir. Indulge in some cakes while admiring the view and enjoying that breeze, or go for some all-day breakfast or pasta if you are feeling hungry. A great place for some solitude indeed ...

How about having a nasi lemak pie for breakfast? The team from Food Glossary have come up with a whole range of pies for #UltimateHawkerFest2014. These flaky and buttery pies have very interesting asian and western fillings such as mee siam pie, nasi lemak pie, chicken rendang pie, chicken pongteh pie, smoked beef and beans pie and the classic chicken pie. Exciting! 😊 http://www.misstamchiak.com/food-glossary-pies-uhf2014/

Durian Creme Brulee. Salted Egg Fries. These are all the reasons you need to pay The Quarters a much-needed visit. Located in Icon Village at Enggor Street, they take inspiration from local Asian flavours to create exciting and unique mod-sin (Modern Singapore) dishes. A sucker for salted-egg-yoke anything will HAVE to order the crispy fries with salted egg yolk dip, and of course, don't leave without first trying their signature durian creme brulee - with smooth, creamy Mao Shan Wang durian custard that's so, so satisfying.
