At Indian fusion eatery Maziga Indian Grill, the round and crispy Old Delhi Golgappa Chat comes with refreshing tubes of chilled jaljeera oxide (powdered herbs that have been given a Heston-esque treatment of liquid nitrogen) bursting with great flavours. This sweet, tangy and spicy evening snack is loved by everyone in the dining table!

Kicking off the trail at Oriole Coffee + Bar @oriolecoffee, we sampled some signature dishes and coffee. We love the Crab Cake Benedict served with two poached eggs, toasted English muffins, drizzled in lemon dill hollandaise. Heading to our next stop... We are very disturbed that the hood and hob in my kitchen are misaligned, and our air conditioning is not working. Sigh. Anyway, we explored the neighbourhood last weekend and was recommended to try 36 M.S wanton noodles in a quaint coffee shop at Seletar Hills. Wanton mee with chilli sauce was decent but I like the non-chilli version with dumplings. The handmade noodles are tossed in dark sauce sauce that gives it the glistering look and the dumplings are juicy and tasty. But hor, don't expect big portions lah!

With more than 20 dishes in the menu, enjoy tasty highlights such as Stewed September Pearls with Gluten, pig stomach with eight treasure stuffing, popular jian bao, seaweed dumpling, deep fried oyster cakes, sweet potato buns and more.
My favourite is "Guo Bian Hu" where the rice paste is scrapped into the boiling broth as delicate rice noodles, complemented with vegetables, pork slices, shrimps for a comforting dish. Not forgetting the Heng Hwa Bee Hoon - manually milled by hand in Putian and infused with soy milk and simmered together with egg.

Using only premium lotus seeds, the Lotus Paste Rice Dumpling is set to bring some sweetness. The lotus seed paste filing is creamy, sweet and fragrant which complements well with the chewy glutinous rice.

Right in Blk 284 Bishan Street 22, there is a newly opened stall in the coffeeshop called "Ding Ji Mushroom Minced Meat Noodle" where they sell excellent noodles with fish maw soup ($8). The rich soup base is simmered overnight to get all the goodness from the pork bones. There is generous amounts of sliced pork, pork liver, dried sole fish (teepo), a spoonful of minced meat and egg served in the aromatic soup, with springy noodles tossed in chilli sauce. The fish maw they use are of better quality so you won't get that oily smell like those cheapo ones. Those teepo ... very wicked ... making every mouthful bursting with umami flavour!
Their bowl of BCM starts from $3.50 but I really suggest you to try the $8 fish maw soup version because it's damn solid. They also serve huge and juicy teochew dumplings. Good news is, this stall in Bishan opens 24 hours! Now I need to gather all my supper kakis to come back again! Faster go before it becomes long queue! #dontsaybojio

Run by third generation young kopi hawkers, we saw them at Heritagefest over the weekends and decided dropped by today to grab some toast and coffee. Besides the traditional coffee, they also serve modern coffee drink like sea salt caramel latte. Their wholemeal toast has interesting fillings like earl grey creme or homemade black sesame paste.

The siew mai is good with juice meat fillings and roe. Chee Cheong Fun and chicken feet is also not bad! 7am to 8pm, closed alternate Wednesdays.

I have been seeing it on my friends' feed for a few months but every time I went to the hawker centre, it's closed. No luck. Today, I have finally tried it! 🎉 Frying the carrot cake is 83-year-old uncle who makes their own rice cake. It's so thick and chunky with a good bite. I like the black version more which is fragrant and wet. Each piece of carrot cake is so soft with aromatic charred edges. They are very generous with eggs and black sauce, hence giving it a sweet and savoury taste.
