For $15++, the standard bowl of Kohaku Tendon is one of the most value-for-money tendon dishes in Singapore! You get a hearty bowl of prawn tempura, fried chicken breast, as well as deep-fried long beans and mushrooms and all these ingredients are set atop a bowl of multigrain rice. Our favourite item was definitely the prawn tempura, as it was of a pretty generous size (plus there are 2 pieces) and the batter was really crispy! šŸ˜

While you could go with the original, spicy or mala sauce, we have always gone with the spicy sauce as we thought it adds more flavour to the tendon. Furthermore, as with most Japanese dishes, the spice level is very bearable so there is no need to worry too much about it. We haven't tried the mala but we think it might be a little strange for that to go with a tendon bowl. šŸ˜…

The restaurant wasn't very crowded for a weekday lunch although a slight queue might form if you aren't able to beat the office lunch crowd! Hence, do try to go down early (~1130) if possible!

I don't usually order seasonal tendons because they're much pricier. This time I decided to pamper myself and I must say it's worth the bill. The X-factor for this were the uni, ikura and seaweed batter. There's that bit of cheap uni, but also uni wrapped in ooba leaf with amaebi (as tempura). The flavours were complex, although I'd prefer the full-size ebi, which they missed, instead giving me another snow crab leg. The seaweed batter and spicy sauce really elevated this meal, as compared to my previous visit. Other ingredients were oyster, scallop, king crab stick, dory and chikuwa.

Last month to grab @kohakutendon Sea Urchin Tendon before it makes way for the spring special! Showcasing nine extravagant treasures of the sea coated in seaweed tempura batter. Bite into the Uni maki, made of amaebi (sweet shrimp) and sea urchin wrapped in oba leaf or savour the plum Hokkaido scallop and sweet Japanese Crab stick. Canā€™t stop till everything is gone~

Favourite tendon place once again!!!!! Always too much for one person but I love it!!! Got the original sauce + Japanese white rice noms and comes with free flow sauce as well šŸ˜ what a treatttt

This was a dish of pure value, jam packed with delicious proteins fried to perfection. Currently my golden standard for Tendon Bowls, Kohaku doesnā€™t skimp on the ingredients and each of them is served piping hot with this savoury glazed sauce, drizzled over generously but not over saturating the rice bowl. Really ate my fill for this one, more than happy to pay for the price itā€™s commanding and Iā€™d be likely to visit again and enjoy this from time to time. (8/10)

Overhyped and wasn't that good. Exterior can be more crispy.
