Interesting array of Gins to choose from and try
Now I understand why they have a perfect score rating on Google. They literally customise the cocktails to your preference and they have an insane variety of distilled liquors to whip up the perfect cocktail for you.
I was adventurous and tried a garlic flavoured one and I wasn’t disappointed. May sound like a terrifying flavour for a cocktail but the garlic was perfectly balanced, there were hints of it but did not overpower the drink. Genius!
However, this year’s celebrations seem to be somewhat muted with the many events happening globally and around us. From the impending world war to the passing of a basketball great and the rise of a virus disease, the mood around everybody seems to be low. What’s next in store in the coming months? We shall wait and see but let’s hope it’s something positive for us to cheer on.

What was concocted eventually is a peach cocktail that’s refreshing and still contains the alcoholic punch. As for the lady, she requested for something coffee-based after seeing a jar of Vietnamese coffee that was brewing during the bar tour. Slightly more ingredients go into this as a serving of Unisoy powder is dissolved into a milk base before the Vietnamese coffee and aged apricot gin with mesquite chilli is mixed into it. The final touch is to do a brown sugar brûlée with a blow torch at the top before serving. This easy-to-drink cocktail is dangerously addictive as you can easily down a few glasses without realising it and once the alcohol kicks in, you would probably at your third or fourth serving.

The entire place exudes an eclectic feel and the mystery surrounding it is that there is no menu at all. Your fate (and drinks) lies in the hands of both mixologists, Abhishek and Johnny. The entire laboratory setup is like a playground for both of them as they get the opportunity to experiment, brew a tonne of infused gin and concoct genius shaken beverages based on your preferences. For the drinkers, you are literally walking into Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory but this time round, you can get thousands of cocktail combinations that might not even contain chocolate.

Opting for something refreshing and lighter on the palate, I was presented with a martini glass that contains a cocktail made with yanang infused gin, shakes with hibiscus and dandelion while the lady got a gin cocktail of yuzu, red date and chrysanthemums. Utilising a lot of Asian flavours, Oriental Elixir is truly a bespoke bar that is a hidden gem and a great location to kick back some drinks after a long day.
