Mushroom Pizza at The Founders Cafe in Johor Bahru π
Cucumber, Mushroom, Cheese and the Pizza sauce π The pizza is larger than average. My recommendation will be to order one pizza for 2 pax π I love the taste, its not too overwhelming yet delicious π
This cafe is not vegetarian, however they do provide vegetarian options without alliums π
Its located around 30 minutes drive from the Woodlands checkpoint (if there are no traffic congestion)
Highly recommended for my vegetarian friends that needs to find a cafe with awesome vegetarian options π€©
Shroom Bagels at The Founders Cafe in Johor Bahru π₯―
Totally out of my expectation π₯ Portion was huge and I had no clue that it came with normal + sweet potato fries π Real delight to have these bagels filled with cheese, tomato (the red thing in it is not meat π) and mushrooms πβπ« Recommendation for you to share this with a friend π

Picked a spread of skewers from the huge variety available, grilled with spice for a smoky touch. Flavours leaned average, not the best but the strengths are clear with the sheer range of choices, extensive sauce station and the cheap price at just RM1.10 per stick. It was pretty crowded on my visit yet service stayed quick γRM14.30 / 13 Sticks
Got this as a lateβnight option. The bee hoon came dark and glossy with a gentle savoury depth from prawn and pork stock. Each strand was smooth and well coated with bits of greens, egg and meat tucked through for balance. The charcoal wok hei gave it a subtle smoky lift. Service was friendly and quick, making it an easy supper plate γRM13
π Chuang Shi Ji Hokkien Mee
18, 7/10, Persiaran Austin Heights, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Malaysia
The pot began with clams and aromatics fried over charcoal, garlic and ginger sizzling before Hua Diao wine was poured in and set aflame. That quick stirβfry gave the broth a smoky base and once the soup was added, it bubbled with a full kilogram of lala. The clams were generous and plump, their briny sweetness steadying the richness of the wine and aromatics. We could also add seafood, meat or vegetables at different prices, building the pot to taste. The flames and bubbling broth made the table lively, though queues form early and waiting is part of the ritual but the layered flavour and lively preparation make it feel like a supper worth the patience.
Dai Tao Signature Soup γRM38 (1KG Lala)
Some hits, some surprises and generous portions all around.
π Salmon Skin
Ultra crispy, like the kind youβd find in snack packs. Comes with a mayo dip that adds a creamy, tangy contrast. Great starter, especially if you like your crunch loud γRM13.90
π¦ͺ Kaki Furai
Juicy inside, golden outside. Not too oily and the lemon wedge helps cut through the richness γRM21.90
π Escargot Miso Yaki
The snails are tender and the miso glaze adds a deep, savoury punch γRM20.90
π¦ Surumi Ika Shio Yaki
Nicely charred, lightly salted and chewy in a good way. Simple, clean and great γRM21.90
πͺΌChuka Kurage
Light seasoning and not too sweet. A good crunchy and refreshing break between heavier dishes γRM13.90
π£ Kani Karage Maki
Massive crab stick sushi rolls topped with tobiko, crunchy tempura and bonito flakes. Messy and satisfying γRM26.90
Smooth custard, fresh prawn and ikura for that umami pop. Mushroom slice tucked in as expected. Nothing to shout about but it does the job if youβre after something warm to start γRM18.90
Thick cuts of salmon belly, crosshatched and sitting pretty on crushed ice. Ikura on top gave it that umami pop.
Super fresh, super buttery. Every bite was clean and rich, no weird aftertaste, just pure melt-in-your-mouth goodness γRM31.90
This bowl was a full-on colour party. Thick cuts and super fresh slices of salmon, tuna, scallop, squid, swordfish, surf clam and prawn all laid out like a seafood parade. Ikura added that briny pop and the tamagoyaki came stamped with a little nice touch. Same mushroom rice as the salmon don and Iβm still not over it γRM40.90
Thick, fresh slices of salmon laid out like a fan, with ikura sitting pretty in the centre. Each bite was rich and briny in the best way. The rice wasnβt just a base. It had savoury mushroom bits mixed in that gave it an earthy depth. Beautifully plated, generously portioned and packed with flavour γRM34.90
(RM 28) I hesitated with hojicha nama gateau instead? idk why I will be struggled with ordering two cakes at same time? but in the end, I followed my heart to choose matcha instead. Thank goodness that I didn't choose to order two cake instead bc I didn't managed to eat finish whole cake due to the cream. But at least I felt that its worth it to come at least one time per jb daytrip and its better to explore around jb area for food choice. But I felt that their matcha cake was quite bitter but then too much for overall experience.
Matcha Latte
(Cold - RM 16.90) I would be to want the cake next time if I want to go again instead of matcha drink? But their matcha latte taste so weird due to the milk that they use?
Matcha Chocolate Nama Gateau
(RM 28) But I felt that their matcha x chcocolate cake was quite bittersweet but then too much for overall experience.
Yuzu Matcha
(RM 17.90) this one v not that bad tbh as it mixed well with yuzu soda.
