Glutinous rice with savoury grated coconut. Something quite similar to the Nyonya Sambal Haebi Pulut ... but with no Haebi. .
Some may find it a little sweet if they prefer something more savoury.
Texture of the pulut rice ... a little tough ... buy overall taste is pretty acceptable.
My second time to Tok Ayah, this time was a lunch date with my hubby (his 1st visit). The dishes served never ceased to amaze me. The Bergedil (potato croquettes) soft and fluffy with a layer of crispy skin.
The singkong (daun ubi/tapioca leaves) masak lemak, sambal sotong, rendang.... kacang bendi (okra) ... heavenly ...
Hubby was spoilt by the variety of dishes offers and his plate was almost overflowing till the makcik said to him that any more she's gotta use another plate.
We are looking forward to their Mee Rebus on our next visit.
Oldness is goodness! Traditional desserts..I wonder if people born after the year 2000 still appreciate them? This is definitely a snack I grew up with, preferring home made ones by an aunt. Today, I got whisked into my childhood! These Kuih Lopes tasted just like the homemade ones I used to really enjoy eating when there were no fancy desserts back then (the 90s). It was of the right texture - somewhere in between chewy yet not tough firmness. The gula melaka syrup was also of the right sweetness and consistency!
This is newly opened, a couple months back. When I arrived at 9am, there was already a tantalising display of food available. Place is adequately airconditioned and clean. The mee siam was very legit! Delicious just with the right punch of spicy- sweet and sour! Place accepts cash only. Slurrrrrping goodness! Tip: Don't wear white unless you want red dots on your shirt.
Spoilt by the choices of dishes to choose from .... average of $10-$12 per pax.
The Nangka Masak Lemak, Pari Assam Pedas .... a must try ! 😊
Yummylicious!
Finishing my sumptuous meal at Nasi Padang at Tok Ayah (@nasipadangbytokayah) with Goreng Pisang (fried bananas) which costs only $1 each!
