Clean But Absolute Flavourful 👍🏼
Said to be inspired by the cooking style of teochew fish porridge and steamed pomfret. The soup has got a good mix of ingredients like barramundi, nuts, kiam chye and tofu. However, i did not finish the soup as it was a tad too salty to my liking
Tomato based stew with peas, diced carrots and potato. Love the tangy taste of the stew and the substantial amount of barranmudi i can find!
Mixed rice bowl topped with teriyaki chicken, onsen egg and boiled carrots, cauliflower and broccoli. Nicely done onsen egg that i can mixed with the rice. Teriyaki chicken was pre-cooked and heat it up before serving to us.
Quite a huge portion of salad top with a significant amount of crabmeat, though is “fake” crabmeat. Drizzled with a good amount of sesame dressing that enhances the dish with sense of smell.
$6 thunder tea rice with really nice and fragance brown rice that is very soft and moist. The fragance comes from the pandan leaves and lemongrass that are cooked together with the brown rice. Had to queue for approximate 10mins but ohwells, the uncle at the stall is quite entertaining. He is kind of “dancing” with the blasting 90’s oldies music at the background while preparing all those ingredients.
Curried dory fish fillet with sides such as pickled carrot and raddish, coleslaw, corn and broccoli. It comes with a bed of mixed grains (rice hulks, white rice and barley).
Newly opened at 313 somerset with a small seating of not more than 20 pax. We grabbed on to the burpple beyond 1 for 1 since is before 6pm. Opt for tofu base with an addition of $2, comes with 5 toppings and 1 main which you can choose to have meat or go vegan. I chose the bulgogi beef and it was nicely marinated, sweet and tender. Portion was definitely quite alot for me, i had lots of leftover tofu in the end. Nevertheless, ingredients are really fresh and flavours are great! Will be back to try the other meat!
Creamy lentils soup cooked with superfood such as kale and pumpkin. The cashier kindly gave me 4 slices of rustic breads to pair it with the soup to close off the weekend night
Nori seaweed wrap with japanese rice but the mega san here was really small. It’s just more ingredient but the rice portion was the same as little san. I think Maki-San needs to put in some effort in their quality control.
Opt for the fresh mixed vegetable base with toppings such as tamagoyaki, asparagus, unagi, edammane, almond flakes, roasted capsicum and steamed prawn. But i remember the topping portion was slightly more generous at the other outlet.
By the way, their salted egg sauce was not very fantastic.
This was the wasabi with salmon option. Similar ingredient such as chopped walnut, tobiko, spring onion with japanese rice base. Stir in the onsen egg into the rice, is a way to enjoy the rice on another level!
Salmon cube tossed with roasted sesame sauce and added onto chopped romaine base. Everything in the bowl is pre-fix and you can’t choose. Additional a dollar for the onsen egg.
