The bisi bele bhath was served piping hot, with a nice texture from the mix of rice, lentils and vegetables, served with a side of raitha and mini popadoms. The dish had a pronounced sweetness from the vegetables, with a nutty flavour imparted by the lentils. The tamarind pulp gave it that signature sweet sourness and contrasting in flavour and texture. The poni rice used was cooked down to an almost broken rice consistency. Use the popadom as a makeshift spoon to dig into the rice for the best experience. Probably one of the best dishes at MTR. A must try.

Masala Dosa (thosai) is a South Indian dish from Bangalore made from rice and black gram into a crepe stuffed with spiced potatoes, laced with ghee and served with a side of green chutney and lentil sambar.

The masala dosa here was crackingly crispy, falling apart with the tug with the fork. The thin layer of dosa envelop dollops of spiced potatoes, which added a nice sweet savouriness to the dosa itself. The dish is pulled together with a drizzle of ghee. The dosa is best served with a mouthful of chutney or lentil sambar, but in all honesty, both are equally delicious. Definitely a must try.

The vegetarian mutton here, unlike many other places, is made from mushrooms, specifically the monkey head mushroom. The vegetarian mutton here doesn't give off that distinct taste which is found in gluten based mock meats, but has the fragrance and aroma of proper mutton due to the spices used in its cooking. The texture is springy to the bite, making you almost forget that you're not eating meat at all. Quite an example of fine vegetarian cuisine.

Chapati is a southern Indian flatbread made from whole wheat flour, making it one of the healthiest breads you can eat. Chapati is usually served with a selection of curries, including dhal.

The moonlike chapati served here was somehow still fluffy, which is quite hard to achieve for a bread that essentially uses little to no fat. Most chapati will have that distinct cardboard like texture, but not at Tiger Jit's. The curries served was a rich dhal, along with chickpea masala and one of their standouts, their mutton curry. The chickpea was crunchy and savoury, while the mutton had an intense curry flavour to it. Piquant perfection.

The paneer has the richness that you would normally have with butter chicken. The sweetness of the butter sauce was great with the heavy umami flavour of the paneer, which was firm. As paneer is a type of cottage cheese which is has quite tart taste, this dish is excellent on its own or with a heap of rice. A great and simple vegetarian dish that is a gorgeous dish to be enjoyed on on a sunny weekend.

Thali is a rice dish served with an an assortment of mixed curried vegetarian dishes, including potatoes, long bean, cucumber, salsa, chutney, rasam (a southern Indian savoury soup) and popadoms (chick pea crackers).

The vegetarian thali and The Ganga Cafe is exceptionally flavourful, served with brown rice. The curries are all strongly flavoured but delicate, and taste so good you don't realise there's no meat involved at all. Portions are quite small for a thali, but is definitely enough for moderate eaters.
