I thought Dean & Deluca (@deandelucasg) was just a coffee & tea chillax cafe but I was so wrong. They also serve pretty decent pasta with big succulent prawns like this Spaghetti Aglio Olio Prawns ($17) at a wallet-friendly price. 😀
My photo doesn't justify how delizioso (delicious in Italian) this Tagliolini Manzo ($35) was. The homemade pasta has an awesome bite, and nothing will go wrong when chunky cubes of beef tenderloin are accompanied with baby spinach. My attention was drawn to the strong creamy truffle sauce! The truffle-ness and creaminess really punch you in the face. It was so good that we wished we had bread to soak in all that yummy sauce. 😋
Love having your pasta with ingredients from the sea (mare in Italian) and mountains (monti in Italian), then Spaghetti Mare e Monti ($30) is a definite must-try for you. Combining plump and succulent prawns with mushrooms, this spaghetti is cooked aglio olio style with white wine so you can enjoy some sweet aroma and the gentle spicy kick. 😘
Chilli Crab Squid Ink Pasta ($18.90) is probably for the adventurous foodies who can appreciate this fusion combination. The chilli crab sauce has a smooth subtle buttery taste from the flakey crab meat and the runny poached egg did its magic after mixing everything together. 😊
What is your go-to food for TGIF Friday? After surviving another hectic week of work, indulging in Misto Carne ($23) from Modesto's with lotsa melted cheese and lotsa meat (pork salami, cooked pork ham, marinated chicken and chicken sausages) is as satisfying as it gets. 😙 Complimentary view of the beautiful Sentosa island and glimpse of fireworks if you visit at around 8pm. 😉
Start the weekend with an traditional Italian woodfired pizza - Rustica ($21, 8-inch), from Modesto's @vivocitysingapore. Thick and stretchy cheese topped with chunky marinated chicken, mushrooms and onions, the pizza tasted extra awesome with the thin and crispy crust.
Pizza tastes best when eaten hot. It tastes even better if it is the traditional Italian wood-fired pizza. With a carnivorous diet, I took no hesitation to choose the pizza with the most meat - Misto Carne. Topped with multiple layers of pork salami, slices of ham, marinated chicken slices and sausages, we could barely see the base of the pizza! 😁 Bite down and pull, the melted cheese is always the best part of enjoying a pizza.
Settled at Modesto's for dinner because we were too lazy to travel elsewhere and we had no regrets. Serving hearty and decent Italian food, Modesto is definitely not modest when it comes to throwing in big portion of seafood into its Risotto Pescatora. The flavour was admittedly lacking but the abundance of squids, clams, prawns and fat mussels made up for it. 😄
Pizza Berg @ Seven7h Cucina comes in a hearty portion that the hungry me could barely finish. I mean, just imagine pizza and burger wrapped together. 😆
Choose between Angus beef or lamb patty, the pizza tightly encased the thick meat patty with caramelized onions, chilli relish, pomodoro and melted mozzarella cheese with argula salad and truffle fries on the side. The fries were still crispy and nice even though they turned cold. We chose to have Angus beef patty and it was full of moist from the cheese and onions. That said, the meat patty was a tad bland for us who loves savory food. 😜
For those who work in the vicinity, Seven7h Cucina offers lunch sets at only $9.90+ (service charge but no GST). Choose any pasta or 6-inch pizza and enjoy a soft drink for free. You can also add on $3 for vanilla gelato, soup or sides. Good lunch deal, no? 😉
D'good Cafe was really generous with the amount of crab meat 🦀 thrown into this plate of pasta. It was extra fragrant and delicious as they added shellfish oil! 😙
Visually appealing with 6 big sea prawns covering the smooth garlicky spaghetti. The adding of white wine removed the fishy stench and added sweetness to the prawns. But what we love was the tinge of spiciness and aroma of chilli padi! 😋
The newly opened Tan's Pasta Shop at 313@Somerset is running a promotion for its opening special - Pesto Linguine for $6 (usual price: $7). Available for limited period only, chiong ah~~~ 😄
Upon arriving at Food Republic, the shop's big poster near the lifts caught my attention. This unassuming food court stall is started up by a young chef with "rich experiences in Michelin Star restaurants".
😎 Wow~~ In all honesty, we find that the pasta was above average standards of food court pastas. The basil and nutty flavours of the pesto sauce were well-balanced. The linguine was slightly softer than al dente but still firm compared to many other food court pastas. The buttery sliced mushrooms and chunky bacons added savory, texture and smoothness to the pasta. And of course, a handful of the parmesean cheese would do the trick to complete the dish. 😋
