The gula melaka is super thick like toffee as usual, and while everything else is passable, they make a very enjoyable eat nonetheless. Portion is very generous, I was quite full from eating this myself
I had this before I wrote my first review on burpple, and after 6 years I still do. Props to them!
So named because "gangster" in Chinese is two characters that each sound the same as durian and mango, the two fruits in this dessert. Popular but standard didn't live up to the former. Both fruits were not the best.
There seems to always be a queue here, probably because of how generous they are with the ingredients for the cheap price! The chendol is covered with their thick, gloopy gula melaka syrup (almost like a toffee syrup) that’s quite strongly flavoured. It really gives an oomph to the chendol. Their green pandan jelly is delicious and fragrant too. A yummy and refreshing dessert and it’s so worth it.
The gangster ice is named as such because in Chinese, 榴(莲)芒(果)冰 can be shorted to be 流氓冰, which really made me laugh. They totally didn’t skimp on the massive ball of durian maoshanwang pulp on top, which made the ice really creamy when mixed in, and it actually went quite well with mango. A really refreshing dessert.
This shop is more popular for its power channel and its mango ice.
But I was craving something not so sweet today.
So decided to have the red ruby.
Surprised by how good it was.
👍
❤😤 Very rich and delicious Chendol (S$2). The stall names it Power Chendol. The gula melaka was very thick and sticky. The green jelly was slightly salty which compliments the sweet brown sugar and red beans. You won't find chendol like this elsewhere. Must try 👍👍
