Torched slices of tender pork belly over rice, topped with chilli powder, seaweed, crunchy tempura bits and a side of pickles for that tangy crunch. The smoky pork with the spice and crisp textures makes each bite satisfying, while the pickles cut through the richness nicely. A hearty, balanced bowl that feels like a good neighbourhood coffeeshop find 》$8.50
📍Ishiro Fusion Bowl
The teppan grilled pork with black pepper sauce was tender, savoury and had a nice peppery kick. Each set comes with bean sprouts, broccoli, corn, rice and soup, making it a complete and filling meal.
For a coffeeshop setting, it’s actually quite decent with generous portions, flavourful and definitely value for money 》$8
📍Teppan Secret
From the new-ish 川小帅 stall. We wanted beef dumplings but they're unavailable. In any case, these were utterly forgettable.
From the new-ish 川小帅 stall. First, shout-out for the noodles, because it's the perfect China type. Then, the radish also cooked til not bitter. But the beef was mediocre and the soup was just bad.
Tried the tai wah bcm. This was the $5 noodles. Loved the ingredients! Pork was soft and goes well with the chilli. Noodles were a tad dry though. Would also prefer if there was more sauce and vinegar.
The previous bcm at this kopitiam was Ding Ji, not sure how that died. I don't usually try an unknown and here's why. Although the meatball-within-meatball was yummy and large, the noodles were pathetic. Might be the most alkaline-tasting mee I've eaten, which points to how lousy the cooking was. Drenching so much soy sauce barely helped.
