Chilli con carne chicken burger @ $15nett
This is easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was easy to cut through - the textures of the bun and chicken patty were really great. The chicken patty was nicely grilled and it was still tender and juicy. If I were to be picky, then it would be the flavour of chilli con carne didn't really come through, but it didn't take away the fact that the burger was still tasty.
Would be back again to try other burgers.
And maybe also the pizza stall which seemed popular. And the Thai food as the table next to ours was eating that and it smelt good.
Meat was rather tender and juicy, I really enjoyed the smear of cauliflower purée. Simple and easy meal!
Tried the 2 new noodle dishes from the dimsum store at Essen. The noodles had a really great chewy texture that I throughly enjoyed! The gravy for the beef noodles was very fragrant. Would definitely get it again.
New store aptly named as "Hook" as it serves up dishes from the sea. The seafood chowder topped with pan-seared fish is my definition of a warm comfort meal for every seafood lover.
The red snapper fillet was nicely done to give it a crispy skin and though it was lightly seasoned, it got a boost of flavour from the seafood chowder. The chowder was a slightly creamy white broth that came with clams, mussels, potatoes, edamame, carrots and corn. Overall filling and satisfying.
To be honest, I was shocked to receive this plate of salmon cos nothing was mentioned abt shellfish being involved. I wanted salmon pasta initially and they said I could order salmon and add on Aglio olio. I’m not a fan of shellfish and they are wasted on me no matter how fresh they are. Salmon was pretty good thou, with crispy skin and juicy meat. From Hook stall. A new stall that just moved into Essen.
Very delicious this one. I wanted pasta with my salmon and had to add on cos they didn’t offer salmon pasta. The Aglio olio was seasoned just right and very fragrant from the garlic and olive oil. Tiny bits of meat that I thot maybe was ham made this dish more flavorful. From Hook stall.
