The stunner of the night. Show stopping esp since it's immediately after the luroufan. Perfectly crispy and moist duck leg, with a nice hint of sweetness from the kecap Manis. Sambal was also divine, with a depth of flavour and not too spicy. A must-have from little bastard
1) Don’t miss One Night in Tom Yum ($20). Pour in the very flavourful cold Tom yum consommé over cold Japanese inaniwa udon with crab meat, for an amalgamation Of spicy, sour, savoury flavours in a bowl.
2) Duck confit penyet ($20). Crispy on the outside, tender and succulent on the inside, the duck confit shines with homemade Sambal and kecap manis for the Asian twist.

This was so good! Tender pork collar went perfectly with the Thai red curry. The curry was fragrant and packed a nice 🌶kick. I dipped everything in the red curry 🤪

The food was awesome (didn’t manage to take pics of everything - the duck confit was 🤩🤩🤩🤩), staff were great. Thank you for the yummeh mocktail @littlebastardsg! I really enjoyed it 😋

Think Szechuan style beef tartare with Wagyu shoulder and century egg, Japanese udon with crab meat in cold Tom Yum broth, or duck confit Pengyet with sambal chilli. Their charred Claypot rice was a must-eat.
Featured here was their Kaeng Phet Mu, 14-hour sous vide Iberico pork collar on Thai red curry. Full of flavours with these tender pork.
With a quirky home-dining set-up and bar music, dining at @littlebastardsg was an absolute enjoyment. You would also be intrigued to check out their interesting cocktails with names like Mee Siam, Kaya Toast and Simply Yeo's.
This would be a really good time to go as their Tasting Menu's been going for a special $52++ as part of NDP celebration, certainly good value for a really hearty and satisfying meal. Do note that they close on Sun and Mon though.
What a mysterious place - you either head up the stairs via a secret door in the back alley, or ask the friendly folks at The Refinery to show you the way (it's hidden behind one of their shelves).
Both the Duck Confit Penyet & One Night in Tom Yum were delicious ($20++ each). The former had a great dollop of homemade sambal that paired well with the absolutely tender duck meat. The latter had chewy Japanese Inaniwa Udon in a bowl of Tom Yum Consomme, coupled with crab meat. It's served as a cold dish; I do wonder how this would've tasted as a piping hot bowl of noodle soup.
Stuff here is expensive considering how small the portions are. I could've eaten 2 mains & not be completely full. But strangely enough, after I left, I was thinking of the food for the rest of the night. Great execution, but my stomach is too big for this place methinks.
Ambience was awesome - quite lovely place to chill or go on a date. Music played in the background was excellent. 👌
(But I was hungry at the end of it all & walked a few streets down to eat some waffles with ice cream.)
Ps: That glass of beer was $15++. Sigh.

Now who remembers that? 😅~ || @littlebastardsg's {Duck Confit Penyet} which had so much potential yet fell short due to lack of character in the accompanying sambal sauce. Still, a pretty good smashed duck confit plump with juiciness and sporting a nicely salted hide. You might want to bring on the minature charred rice bowl with this bad boy.

This is my other favourite clever dish here (see previous post on One Night in Tom Yum). It is exactly what it says: duck confit "smashed" ayam penyet-style, with uber tender insides and crispy edges. I'm thankful that the chef toned down the heat level of the chilli without compromising on the aromatics and spices. We enjoyed this so much we begged them to add this to Refinery's lunch menu; one can wish right?
It’s best to eat this with rice, but please note that one bowl costs $5.
Duck Confit Penyet ($20)
Heard about the place with a super cool name and knew I had to pay it a visit. @littlebastard @臭小子 was tucked away on the 2nd floor of the Refinery accessible only via a secret unmarked door which the staff needed to point out to you. Once there, you'll feel like you have been teleported to someone's living room / mini "gambling den" with sofas and a few dining tables and mahjong tables complete with chips in the drawer. Of course nothing illegal is happening here😂!
Decided to settle for the Duck Confit Penyat as crispy duck confit served with homemade sambal and kicap manis just sounded like a winning combo. Duck was good with tender fall-off-the-bone flesh and really crispy skin that had most of the fat rendered away. Housemade sambal went as a great accompaniment to the duck too. However, I feel that it is just missing that zest to help alleviate some of that meaty goodness. Do note that no carbs was served with this dish. Of course, if you desire, a side order of "fragrant white rice" is available at $5😱!!! Yes, no kidding. White rice 🍚 sprinkled with a bit of seaweed flakes on top! On the whole, whether it's 💵 well spent, I'll leave it to you to decide😁.
