Red miso salmon, soba, broccoli and garlic, grilled pumpkin, cherry tomatoes, furikake, coriander leaves and plum sesame sauce (this was from their list of preset bowls).
Chiak bowls are simple, unpretentious, light and healthy. Because of this, they tend to be on the bland side, and the flavours donβt come through easily. The mains are certainly interesting with chicken chestnut patty and prawn otak but the rest of the components are a bit lacklustre. However, I wouldnβt mind dropping by for that boost of healthy shot.

Here is my friend's DIY bowl. Nicked some pork belly from her & it was tasty. Everything was good except the roasted sweet potato which, for some reason, was served Not Hot? Even though it's roasted? (Or do they mean "once-roasted-but-has-been-sitting-there-for-a-while"?)
Basic Bowl: $8.80 nett for 1 base + 1 protein + 2 sides + 3 toppings + 1 dressing. (Dressing is only applicable if you select the dry option i.e. no soup)
Other possible options are identical as above but with 2 proteins ($11.30 nett), or 3 proteins ($13.50 nett).

DIY bowls are quite in trend now. Here's the Basic Bowl: $8.80 nett for 1 base + 1 protein + 2 sides + 3 toppings + 1 dressing. (Dressing is only applicable if you select the dry option i.e. no soup)

I opted for chicken soup because I was feeling under the weather - unfortunately, this ended up tasting pretty weird. I don't know if it's because it was mixed with Teriyaki Chicken (then ran out of tofu, my first choice) .. But I don't think I'll order the chicken soup again.
Would like to try some other options, so I will probably return here someday to get that done. Chiak also has options on their menu if you are indecisive & don't wish to DIY!

Visited them a while back when they were new; seems like they have tweaked the recipe a little by using a different type of bread apart from the wholemeal bread they had been using then. The area around the crust were a tad dry, while the black sesame butter spread was still as roasty in flavour though not as generous as before β still blended well with the vanilla-flavoured custard for a sweet, roasty flavour but not quite as balanced as before. Would still head down if I have a craving though; still pretty unique and hard to find elsewhere.
Self note: there is this Pulot Hitam-like dessert that seems pretty interesting β should probably make a revisit to check that one out.
Wouldn't even have ventured here but glad we did! Chiak is a mod-Asian salad-noodle bar concept by Cedele so expect the usual wholesome food. What I really liked about it was the Asian influences in ingredients - you've got charsiew, red miso salmon etc, edamame and wakame fungus instead of the usual greens. Love the flexibility to create your own bowl with choice of a base, protein, two sides, three toppings and one dressing. Or if you're too lazy to pick, simply choose from their signature bowls!
Red Miso Salmon ($13.80) - served with soba, shimeji mushroom, wakame fungus, edamame, sweet and soft roasted pumpkin, seaweed flakes, sesame plum soy dressing. The flavourful dressing was fragrant with a strong sesame taste, paired well with the soba and the savoury-sweet red miso salmon was tasty. My only gripe would be that it was a little on the dry side.
PS. They're currently having a 1-for-1 on their signature bowls from 21st to 25th Nov for both dine-in or takeaways so grab a friend for some good wholesome meal!
