The latest reviews from real people you can trust
I believe many Singaporeans are familiar with this restaurant that famous for their paper wrapped chicken.
Although we came on Tuesday night but surprisingly there’s a queue with the locals during dinner peak time.
Thankfully the queue went fast and they actually served their dishes pretty fast also.
Love the herbal taste of their paper wrapped chicken. Soft and tender.
Whenever we mentioned about Pontian, the first thing that comes to your mind would probably be the wan tan mee.
We can find Pontian Wan Tan Mee in Singapore. But coming to the real Pontian town, of course you must die die grab a plate of it from one of the few places here that offers the authentic Pontian tomato wan tan mee.
Mee Sin Kee is one of them in town offering options of 1, 2 or 3 servings of the noodle; depending on the portion you want to get.
My order is only 1 serving of noodle, tossed with tomato and chili sauce. Topped with pieces of char siew. The wan tan separates in a bowl of soup aside. And yes, they also added fishballs here.
Old-school cendol that's truly worth savouring. Crafted with fresh coconut milk, palm sugar, red beans, smooth pandan jelly, and a generous serving of shaved ice, this cendol is a must-try when you find yourself in Kluang. The harmony between the sweetness from Gula Melaka and the fresh creaminess is simply exquisite.

The famous cendol in Kluang that has been serving for many years. Recommend to add pulut hitam to complete your dessert.
There’s glutinous rice inside the cendol, which I find it very interesting.
One of Pontian town's signature wanton mee eateries.
The tomato sauce noodles were a little disappointing and are something of an acquired taste, while the black pepper wanton mee was nice but still a tad strange, as it tasted like the kind of sauce one would drizzle on a steak.
All in all, still an interesting experience as this style of wanton mee absolutely cannot be found in Singapore.
Fish head curry served in a claypot loaded with fleshy fish meat, cabbage, lady finger, long bean, fried tofu skin and tau kee. Their portion comes in 3 sizes with a small portion serving only fish steak while medium and large comes with a choice of fish head or tail. Each serving is freshly prepared upon ordering where they will place the fresh fish steak/head/tail into the claypot, add in the vegs and curry to cook it over the fire before serving it bubbly-hot to our table.
If you are expecting curry with a very thick consistency then you may not appreciate this place. The curry gravy here is not heavily saturated with coconut milk which is less jelak and drinkable. The fish meat absorbs the savoury curry gravy well and goes perfectly with rice. A small portion is just nice for 2-3 pax 》RM40 / Small (Fish Steak)
It's time to consider having curry fish head for breakfast because the waiting time nearer to lunch hour is approximately 1 hour and they are not open for dinner.
"Made with a variety of spices from Malay & Indian cuisine, the curry is super flavourful & addictive. The fish head is very tender too".
This legendary shop has a long que regardless of the time of day, and a bowl of curry fish head for 1 starts at RM22.

PSA TAKE NOTE banana breads come out at 730am and 1030am strictly or later, and sells out somewhat quickly?(because a lot of people buy a lot...) Buns come out at 1130
Overhyped. What did you expect? Not sure why a cult following developed to the point where people are buying back as middleman and others are taking away piles of it, but it's too much and expectedly no simple banana cake should deserve this much attention
That's not to say it's not worth queueing tho, after all, the queue moves quickly. The texture is pretty soft and honestly it's somewhat rich as well, quite unique. Depending on your preference this might not be your favourite but there's no shortcomings at all.
Tbh it's quite ulu u need to grab here, it's not like it's damn near the checkpoint.
Asam Laksa (RM9.90)
Flavourful laksa, packed with a generous portion of fish and a sour kick at every mouthful.

Original Herbal Bak Kut Teh (RM20)
I liked how we are able to customize and pick ingredients we like. Intestines were quite clean - minimal to no porky taste. Broth was flavorful, comforting and not too heavy

The Best Banana Cake (RM10)
Hiap Joo Banana Cake was freshly made and piping hot when I first got it 🍌 Banana cake was soft, moist and not too crumbly! One thing that I really liked was that the cake wasn’t too oily and buttery, but moist enough to not get tough to eat!
