Nice idea. But firstly, there's no spoons for the ice cream. Secondly, although they have a supposed promotion upsizing your cha yen by 40% for free, it's packed with ice and diluted fast.
Pork meatballs aren’t the norm and that’s exactly why I love these. A welcome change from the usual beef options, they’re perfect for non-beef eaters or anyone looking to switch things up. Handmade and packed with flavour, they’re juicy, slightly garlicky and have little bits of carrot for added texture.
The marinara’s got that tangy, homemade vibe with chunks of onion and tomato. Great for sharing, especially if you want something a little different from their usual grilled fare 》$7.20
Despite its name, this catfish felt more seared than traditionally grilled. The catfish had a nice crisp on the outside while staying tender and flaky inside. The dill sauce brought a tangy, creamy flavour that paired well but there just wasn’t enough of it. By the second half, things started to dry out a bit. More sauce would’ve made a big difference.
The mushroom rice was as fragrant as ever and the herb potatoes had that perfect crispy-soft combo. Overall, a good meal but next time, I’m definitely doubling up on the sauce 》$7.90
Yummy water chestnut rubies and nice coconut ice cream. But kinda small and no ice pool, so was a drier red ruby.
Not sweet at all so not my type.
great place and vibes with fantastic food. really resembles the izakaya vibe and made me reminisce the times i was in japan. restaurant is cosy and well ventilated which makes it comfortable to chill and hangout with friends. will recommend the cod, gyu don and oden. really love those! best to make reservation when dropping by as it can get quite packed in the evening
Wild Olives is one of those hawker gems that delivers restaurant quality flavours at wallet-friendly prices. The grilled chicken is tender, with a beautifully charred exterior that locks in its juiciness. The teriyaki glaze adds a sweet yet balanced richness, making every bite deeply satisfying.
Every main comes with two sides and my go-to picks are always the mushroom rice with caramelised onions and grilled herb potatoes. The rice is full of flavour and so fragrant, while the potatoes are crispy on the outside and buttery soft inside. If those aren’t your thing, there are plenty of other options like mashed potatoes, fries, coleslaw, veggies or garden salad.
To round out the meal, a comforting bowl of soup is available for just $1. Just a heads-up: the dinner queue is no joke. Expect to wait at least an hour. For a meal this satisfying, it’s a commitment worth making 》$7.20
Coffee Break with the colleagues, complete with Big Short Coffee’s current Spring 2025 menu!
No points for guessing what I got, because matcha items would always get my attention first. Hence, their Crema al Matcha ($9) was it for me. A decadent dessert in a cup with the slushie-like texture and balanced flavour of earthy matcha, sweet vanilla bean fragrance and delicate milky aroma. The crunchy coffee honeycomb toppings are the icing on the cake.
As a non-coffee drinker, I really enjoyed the Happy Harry ($8) as well. Love the gentle floral notes with the use of wildflowers rare honey, yummy red osmanthus jelly, layered with smooth blue pea flower cream and refreshing fresh coconut water as base. A thirst quencher to beat the heat~
Strawberry Souffle ($16) - Light and not overly eggy or sweet, the stack of soufflé pancakes was wonderfully fluffy. The cream was airy too and matched nicely with the sweet fresh strawberries and sauce. The popping bobas/toppings offered a fun touch as well with the added textures and flavour.
Slow Weekday Tea Break at Lantine!
[Yay, there was no queue on a late Thursday afternoon]
Rock Tea Roasted Milk Tea ($13.90) - Aromatic and deliciously balanced, the classic concoction came highly recommended and understandably so. And as one that usually orders hot milk tea, I enjoyed that their blend was none too sweet or milky. The signature roasted drink was also smooth and belly-warming.
