A sweet, chilled, and refreshingly zesty drink.

Made with premium green tea powder and Hokkaido milk, this drink is specially blended and topped with whipped cream and azuki beans at the bottom. Unfortunately, the milky sweetness overpowers the matcha, making its flavour less pronounced, almost like a typical green tea latte. A bigger straw or a tall spoon would be helpful to scoop up the azuki beans sitting at the bottom, which are otherwise hard to reach. Overall, a bit meh, especially compared to the much more flavourful matcha warabi mochi they serve.

Japanese mochi trio comes in three distinct flavours: kuro goma (black sesame), kinako (soybean), and matcha (green tea). Misato recommends starting from the lightest flavour; kinako, followed by goma, and finishing with the stronger, more bitter matcha. You can also drizzle the optional kuromitsu (black honey) syrup for added sweetness, which I highly recommend!
Each bite of the soft, wobbly mochi melts in your mouth, delivering a refreshing, cooling sensation. The kinako is light and nutty, the goma rich and intense, while the matcha brings a bold, slightly bitter richness. A truly enjoyable, balanced dessert!

This dish features A5 Ohmi Wagyu, renowned as one of the top three finest and most expensive beefs in the world. The premium beef is served with an array of exquisite Japanese ingredients, including shiitake and maitake mushrooms, ginkgo nuts, assorted nama fu, and negi, all beautifully arranged on a hoba leaf. The leaf adds a subtle aroma as the ingredients are cooked over charcoal from the brick, enhancing the experience. A special miso mixture, crafted with a secret recipe, is spread over the leaf for an extra layer of flavour.
Ohmi Beef, hailing from Shiga Prefecture, is certified directly from Japan, and only around 6,000 cattle are shipped annually, making it an exclusive delicacy. The beef itself is delicately flavoured, requiring no extra seasoning to highlight its natural beauty. Its rich marbling imparts a sweet, buttery taste with a light, mellow aroma. The texture is incredibly tender, melting in your mouth. The secret miso mixture adds a robust, umami-packed depth with earthy and savoury notes. So damn good!

Three large, live tiger prawns coated in crispy, flaky breadcrumbs, served over chewy Japanese pearl rice in a seasoned broth. The prawns are served with a thick, creamy egg layer and garnished with mushrooms, chives, ikura, and an assortment of flying fish roe, offering a colourful presentation. The set is accompanied by pickles and miso soup. While the prawns were bouncy, flavourful, and had a tastisfying crunch, and the eggs added a savoury, creamy touch, the rice in the seasoned broth was slightly underwhelming. It lacked the depth of flavour needed to elevate the dish fully. A bit more sauce would likely enhance the umami and bring out the dish's full potential.

Six pan-fried dumplings stuffed with chicken and vegetables, served with a savoury, tangy dipping sauce. The skin was crisp yet slightly chewy and thin, with a generous filling. However, the stuffing lacked flavour, making the dish quite plain.

Adorable rabbit-shape radish and Japanese citrus slices, served atop cold cha soba immersed in a light, refreshing dashi stock. As probably the one and only restaurant in Singapore serving this dish year-round last I checked, it has been on the menu for four years and continues to grow in popularity, although it remains relatively undiscovered. Many might be intimidated by the abundance of Sudachi slices, fearing it will be overly sour, but that’s not the case. The citrus adds just a touch of zest, which can be adjusted to taste. The overall flavour is cool, refreshing, light, savoury, and slightly zesty. The cha soba is soft and slurpy. Typically eaten during Japan’s summer months to cool down, this simple dish packs surprising depth. Definitely worth trying if you visit. It's really nice!

A crunchy, juicy, and tangy Japanese cucumber appetiser that refreshes the palate.

Two large breaded potato balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese, sitting on a bed of shredded cabbage with a cherry tomato garnish. The light, thin batter allows each ingredient to speak for themselves. I don’t usually praise breadcrumbs, but theirs were exceptionally flaky and crispy, light, airy, and not greasy at all. The semi-mashed potato inside, mixed with ham and corn, retained some bite, which I liked. And the mozzarella at the core was still warm, melty, and capable of a cheese pull even after sitting out while I savoured the other dishes.

Is this the most affordable exquisite Japanese dining in Singapore?

Misato has been serving not only artistic but also high-quality food for many years. Its consistency has built a solid reputation, earning nearly a perfect 5-star rating on Google and attracting a loyal customer base.

I may be late to the party, but I’m glad I finally dined here. From the service to the presentation and taste, I was impressed with most aspects. Here’s what we ate,

Back for the third time this year at Shin Minori, and we’re still yet to conquer their extensive menu!😮‍💨 Since my friend is so obsessed with this place, I suggested he sign up for a membership. At the rate we’re going, he could collect points and earn some treats in the future.

Noticed they’ve increased the pricing by $3, but they’ve also added more items to their already gigantic menu. 😱

We always get their assorted aburi sushi and fancy nigiri because they're delicious. This time, the sashimi was a hit—tender and chilled to the right temperature. We had standard appetizers, though the onsen egg wasn’t as good as before. The small temaki options are great for those with a smaller appetite or just wanting a little bite. The grilled skewers and dishes were standard and a bit oily, but their shrimp items are exceptional. The grilled butter mushrooms were unexpectedly tasty with a fragrant butter flavour that usually doesn’t come through. Sushi tacos seem to be trending now. Avoid the carb-heavy dishes—they’re not worth it. However, definitely get the dobin mushi, a savoury teapot soup that warms you up and provides a pleasant experience.

Desserts are the usual fruits, mochi, and ice cream. The buffet also includes free-flow drinks.

I always heard about this place for serving fresh and delicious sashimi but never had the chance to visit due to its ulu ulu location. Now that I have, I gotta agree with the reviews.

TL;DR - Focus on Sashimi and Chawanmushi. Drinks and desserts are additional charges.

We made a reservation through @eatigo_sg for a discounted buffet rate. T&C apply. Although the discount rate is fixed at certain times, it's a good way to save some money. We went there early since we needed to walk about 800m to the restaurant from Tan Kah Kee Station. We arrived at a small, long, and cozy restaurant with a dim ambiance.

Using a QR code to scan for the ordering menu, we each ordered what we wanted to try and eat, then waited for the food to arrive. Food arrived promptly.

If you are a sashimi lover, this place excels. The sashimi tasted quite fresh, with each slice being chilled, smooth, and delicate in the mouth. The cuts were just the right thickness to fit into the mouth.

Ikura Chawanmushi is another must-have dish. The eggs were sieved properly, leaving a smooth surface without many air bubbles. Eat with care as this savoury egg dish is served piping hot. It's so nice that I had seven of them and treated them like dessert too.

As for the sushi, the toppings were alright, but the rice was subpar. The vinegared rice felt lumpy and tasted cheap, lacking deep flavour.

The grilled, pan-fried, teppan, and deep-fried items were kind of oily, in my opinion, and the taste was quite average. The Wafu Steak was probably an exception with its juicy, tender, and chewy meat.

Note that the buffet doesn't include drinks and desserts. If you are thirsty, they offer free-flow drinking water and free-flow hot/cold green tea for $1 and $1.50, respectively. Their service was great too.

A very important point to note: CASH/PAYNOW/PAYLAH ONLY
